“I am writing to you to inform you that Bree Morgan, a senior at Pleasant Valley High School, made the following post on Facebook today:
I was extremely repulsed and offended by this. This is completely unacceptable behavior, and you must punish it accordingly. The post was made using Facebook’s “public” setting, meaning that anyone, whether or not they are Facebook friends with her, can see the post. It can be found by searching any of the words in it, or by reading her profile. Her profile also publicly lists that she attends Pleasant Valley High School, again allowing anyone at all to associate this post with the school.
I found this Facebook post after it appeared on Tumblr, a different social media site. It has gotten even more attention that way, and has been further associated with the school. I trust that as an educational establishment, you do not allow this type of behavior from your students. As Bree’s Facebook post gains more and more attention and notoriety on Tumblr, more people can see that this is associated with your school. Surely this is not the representation of your school and students you want out in the media.
I know that you will deal with this episode accordingly, and prosecute it to the fullest extent of your school rules. ”
