Sign upRE: STRIP MINE COAL PROPOSAL NEAR BRYCE CANYON
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is considering a proposal to expand a strip coal mine in southern Utah onto public lands managed by the BLM. These lands belong to ALL of us and are under threat! You’ve seen photos of strip mines and what they do to the land. Southern Utah is a desert, uniquely beautiful, there is nothing like Bryce Canyon anywhere in the world. Damage done in this environment will never be recoverable— not in our lifetime. These scars will last for hundreds of years.
PLEASE HELP.
The director of the local BLM office is Keith Rigtrup. Please email him and ask him to say “NO ACTION ALTERNATIVE” to this proposal. This will deny the expansion of the coal mine which is presently limited to the private landowner who cared only about his $. That was his decision. The expansion proposal affects land owned by ALL of us— not just locals or Utahns, but every citizen in this country.
PLEASE send an email to Keith Rigtrup.
