The stomach of the swallower contained a snake mackerel (Gempylus serpens) 86 cm (34 in) long, or four times its length. It is unclear how the swallower managed to avoid being eaten by the larger snake mackerel, itself an aggressive predator.

Ok seriously, there are so many things wrong with this fish that it isn’t even funny. Look at those soulless eyes. That disturbing coloration. Its freakishly long teeth. The fact that its stomach is approximately a million times bigger than it should be.
The black swallower can unhinge its jaws like a snake, only it’s five times worse, because it’s a fish. It can also unhinge and distend its stomach and swallow objects larger than itself. I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again. What the hell is nature’s problem with freaky-ass mouths?
