The Black Rhinoceros or Hook-lipped Rhinoceros, is a species of rhinoceros, native to the eastern and central areas of Africa including Kenya, Tanzania, Cameroon, South Africa, Namibia, Zimbabwe, and Angola. Although the Rhino is referred to as black, it is actually more of a grey/brown/white color in appearance. The Black Rhino continues to face threats from poaching for the international Rhino horn trade. There are two main uses of Rhino horn; in traditional Chinese medicine and for ornately carved dagger handles worn as a male status symbol in some Middle Eastern countries.
