Soul Surfer the movie - a sneak peek

6/365 Giving Soul Surfer two thumbs up in the tee shirts we got at the premier.

Eva and I had the privilege of attending a pre-showing of the movie Soul Surfer for work-related reasons. It follows the story of Bethany Hamilton the surfer who, at age thirteen, got her arm ripped off by a shark. She had to relearn how to surf with one arm and Bethany is now a pro-surfer and one of the top competitors in the country.

We attended a little skeptically because movies with Christian content can come across a little cheesy at times. But we were so wrong!

The actors (Dennis Quaid, Helen Hunt, AnnaSophia Rob, Lorraine Nicholson, and Carrie Underwood) were incredibly talented and believable. They moved the audience to tears many times. The soundtrack combined Hawaiian tunes with Christian and secular music. The themes of family, perseverance, and love were woven through the plot very well.

It was wholesome, fresh, and relevant without being over-the-top or cheesy.

If you love inspirational sports movies like The Blind Side or Friday Night Lights, or if you’re into surfing movies like Blue Crush, go check out Soul Surfer. It premiers in theaters across the country on April 8, 2011.  http://bethanyhamilton.com/
