Hey can we talk about this week's Community?
Because it was great.
Like really really great.
But I want to talk about Shirley and Jeff’s story.
I read once, on a Community confessions site, someone’s belief that Jeff would be interested in Shirley if she were pretty. Which is like… Pretty according to who? According to whose standards?
So I liked Jeff’s spiel about how he thought she was really cool when she was being mean. It actually felt like they were speaking directly to that statement.
And here’s the thing you need to understand about Shirley. Shirley is married to a reasonably attractive man and has two adorable children. Shirley doesn’t need you to think she’s pretty. Shirley doesn’t give a shit.
And Shirley doesn’t need Jeff Winger to sleep with her to validate her attractiveness.
So why do you care?
