Make sure to write it on your Urdu-speaking lover’s hand.

I just got back from the show:

And while I’ll eventually do a post-show review, I just needed to share this one part with tumblr before I forget.

During the number ‘I Believe in You’ there is a moment when Darren as Finch is essentially singing at his ‘reflection’ about how he believes in himself.  It’s a poignant moment, especially for someone like me who has watched Darren gain success, from relative youtube obscurity to someone that is starring in movies, television, and Broadway with great success.  You could tell that Darren was feeling moved as well, since it was probably the song I felt he showed the most emotional connectivity to.

However, I legitimately almost teared up half way through the number.  See I was sitting in the same row as his parents, and while I didn’t go up and say hello to them (since I felt sort of awkward about doing so), I would glance over every once and a while to see their reactions.  And while Darren was up on stage, singing the second to last repetition of the lines “Oh I believe in you/I believe in you”, Papa Criss started nodding emphatically, his expression serious yet sentimental, eyes never leaving Darren once.  They both looked supremely proud of him the entire time they were watching him, but this was the moment when I felt the familial love and affection the most.
