Brewers of America!
2013 Ballpark Brew Challenge(name may change if we think of something more interesting) (St. Louis, MO) June 6th 2013 leading up to the night game between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Arizona Diamondbacks.
This is a beer competition to find the best brew for baseball tailgating/summer grilling!
We have had the awesome opportunity to participate in 2 of Chef Won Kim’s home brew events. If you have been in attendance to any of them, you know this guy knows how to put on a party! With that said, I present to you Kim’s next endeavor: Iron Brew, a home brew competition!
What started as 40 brewers has been cut down to 20, those 20 will duke it out for a chance to win the grand prize of being flown out to Escondido, CA to brew with Stone Brewing Co! Second and third place prizes aren’t too shabby either, second place brews with Two Brothers Brewing Co, and I think 3rd prize gets a shit load of beer from both amazing breweries. I’ll take any of the above please!
Come out and root us on as we will be pouring our homebrew “Porter Jumper”. We will also bring a couple other batches by for you all to sample. We wont be the only ones pouring, the other 19 brewers will be also so come get your fill!

Great American Beer Festival Winners
The Great American Beer Festival took place from October 11th to the 13th in Boulder, Colorado. This year, the competition awarded 254 medals to some of the best commercial breweries in the United States. There were 4,338 competition entries from 666 breweries. Think about that for a minute…4,338 entries! The competitors were from all across the United States; 48 states, Washington, D.C. and Guam. If you’re not familiar with the Great American Beer Festival and you have an interest in craft beer, it is a must that you attend this event. It is HUGE, and some of the most interesting and creative beers in the world can be found at the Great American Beer Festival.
In all, the 254 gold, silver and bronze medals were awarded in 84 beer categories stretching over 134 different beer styles. Judging a competition of this magnitude takes man power. This year there were 185 beer experts from 11 countries, with assistance from 120 competition volunteers, that served as judges. Even at this number of judges, it must have been a monumental task to judge so many entries!
If you’d like to see the results of the competition, take a look at the 2012 Great American Beer Festival Winners List in PDF format, graciously provided by the Home Brewers Association.
