I oddly get the urge to be all superstitious when it comes to New Year’s Eve, like there’s a pressure that I have to finish my artwork within this year or it will turn out hideous. Actually that’s probably go to do with me being in the middle of reading The Picture of Dorian Gray. Yet, really it’s the label of the day New Year’s Eve that intimidates us. More than just finishing a painting people, get the urge to do something special which often ends up reckless and unpredictable. Whilst my opinion is lop sided since I’ve never had such an eve I’m quite content to welcome my new year quietly. On this beautiful last day of 2011 as I work on my portrait it’s like every stroke of my brush paints the sky a darker shade of blue as well, welcoming the evening finale.

Oh dear, I’ve done my job too well and the daylight is waning too soon. Hopefully have just enough time to squeeze in a coffee break with my friend :)
