Piercing guns are generally not favoured by professional body piercers. Guns use relatively blunt, solid studs that punch through tissue; thus they cause more trauma to tissue than proper piercing needles, which are sharp and hollow. They are also considered unsuitable for hygienic reasons. Piercing with a piercing gun causes microsprays of plasma and blood; the guns frequently contain plastic components which are unable to be cleaned in an autoclave system, while surface cleansers do not kill all bacteria. Piercing guns are frequently encountered in retail outlets, where those wielding them may be inadequately trained. The Association of Professional Piercers recommends that piercing guns not be used for any piercing, including ears. Nevertheless, the vast majority of women in the west have their ears pierced with a piercing gun.

I bolded the horrible bits, woo! But yeah, if you’re still willing to get pierced with an instrument that was made to tag livestock a piercing gun after reading that, you are seriously wrong in the head.
So guys.
I got a job at a body jewelry stand at my local mall. And I can’t tell you the horrors I’ve already seen. A 14 year old cane to me asking if we sold piercing needles. Someone wanted to buy a longer tongue barbell seemingly to pierce her friends tongue. I try and direct every one to a piercing shop, tell them the horrors of piercing guns, and properly tell them how to stretch. It’s sad. And it makes me angry that people are so stupid.
My favourite bloggers from Awful Modifications are online.
And it’s just a sea of posts that makes me so pissed off to see how ignorant and irresponsible people are to their own and others bodies.
Your body is something you live with your entire life, if you’re going to modify it to your aesthetics at least do it the right way and go to a professional.
Why cheap out the 30-80 dollars it’s going to cost and potentially risk your body and your life?
It wasn’t until this blog that I realized how many people butchered themselves with piercing guns, safety pins, sowing needles and then butchered the hard work of reputable piercers for their own ignorant, idiotic, cheap-ass selfish gain.
Seriously? Just why?
