“The Leader of the Opposition says that people who hold sexist views and who are misogynists are not appropriate for high office. Well, I hope the Leader of the Opposition has got a piece of paper and he is writing out his resignation. Because if he wants to know what misogyny looks like in modern Australia he doesn't need a motion in the House of Representatives, he needs a mirror.”
—Julia Gillard on Tony Abbott“I take directions from women every day - my wife, my daughters, my chief of staff, other senior members of my office. Look, I am an entirely modern man in this respect.”
—Tony Abbott’s response to claims he has problems with women who possess power and authority, 2012
You’re such a modern man, Tony. I mean, I could quote stuff you’ve said years and years ago (and I will). But how about we look at some recent examples of you being a ‘modern man’
A modern man who shames women for exercising bodily autonomy.
(There is so much shaming I need to use brackets)
A modern man with modern ideas of consent (read: disgusting ideas of consent).
A modern man who likes to police what women wear.
A modern man who doesn’t support women’s causes.
A modern man who regards feminism, (a movement for political, economic, social, and legal equality for women) as dogma.
Forgive me if I scoff at you, Tony.
"Legalising same-sex marriage could lead to polygamy...or even bestiality."
samesame.com.au“The next step, quite frankly, is having three people or four people that love each other being able to enter into a permanent union endorsed by society.”
What’s so horrible about that, to be honest? Seriously, he’s said it himself - “three people or four people that love each other”; if they love each other so much and want to honour their commitment to each other by cementing it under law, who cares? It’s just bullshit that this is seen as being as horrible as bestiality. Screw that.
