So I learned Audacity had a vocoder in it the other day.
And I learned how to turn myself geth.

It’s pretty simple to set up with the vocoder tool, it turns out:
1. Set distance to 1.
2. Set vocoder bands to 75.
3. Set amplitude to 0 (unless your voice clip is quiet).
4. Set white noise to 15.
5. Set radar needles to 100.
6. Set radar needle frequency to 50.
7. Ta-daaa!

TUTORIAL: Databending images with Audacity

Probably my favourite method of databending images is using a process called sonification, wherein you open the image in a sound editor and mess with it from there before turning it back into an image.

Audacity is a widely-available free sound editor, but databending with it is a LITTLE TRICKY, so I figured I would write a tutorial to explain how to make it work for you. I’ll split it here because I don’t want to make people who aren’t interested have to scroll down forever.

Second & Sebring

Of Mice & Men

This is Second and Sebring dropped a half step lower. Sounds. So. Much. Better.

I need the help of someone...

Who can remove the vocals from a song file.

Anyone?

LET ME GIVE Y'ALL A QUICK LESSON IN AUDIO ACQUISITION.

Okay so

I get a lot of messages asking me if I can put up a download link for such-and-such audio post that I’ve made

And every now and then I’ll do so, but not enough people ever really see it to where I’ll stop being asked about it, and it gets frustrating to have to either keep reuploading to dropbox or whatever or to keep retrieving the link repeatedly

So let me show you guys an easy way to get those pesky audio files yourselves, like big boys and girls.  It’s the method I generally use for capturing audio from my speakers for my own editing purposes and it’s served me well.

Commentary on barking dogs

Tues 1/3/12 (also en el garagio)

Here is a podcast about dogs barking.

It is another example of how cool I actually am.

My Heart is Broken x Going Under [small demo]

Jessica

A little mini mash up I made when I discovered how to make the Going Under - Evanescence drum loop from Audacity.. you can hear it in this audio clip. The point of the clip is to listen to the drum loop, which sounds pretty cool with this!

Made this from Garageband

My Heart is Broken x Going Under [small demo] - Evanescence

Contains:

  1. ‘My Heart is Broken - Evanescence’ intro melody and main melody
  2. Going Under - Evanescence’ drum loop
  3. Going Under - Evanescence’ strings
