Are You Ready
Ben HowardWhere are these hills and valleys that I’ve seen as a young boy?
I found shelter in my solitude, I found safety in the sea.
And all these country lanes would twist and turn,
Young eyes would find, flicker in the darkness and burn.
Those were days so empty a cast was a concern,
When loved ones told me that from disaster, we can always learn.
In those hazy hours my mother would sit me down,
Saying “Don’t depend on tomorrow, because tomorrow can sometimes let you down.”
Are you ready?
Are you ready for this?
Are you ready for a war?
Are you ready for the changes,
Change as the fall?
No car and airplane rides,
Oh I saw the world here with a brand new, a brand new set of eyes.
I met the devil at the crossroad, she was dressed in red.
And her eyes were more beautiful than the stars.
She laid my body down to rest under the Bracken,
And the moonlight covered the moors.
And I swear there was music behind every door…
Are you ready?
Are you ready for this?
Are you ready for a war?
Are you ready for the changes,
Change as the fall?
We all fall down sometimes
We all feel the wings of tragedy
We all seek angels, angels in the hardest hours
We all feel the wings of tragedy rush against us
