"Growing up with Anime in the Philippines"
Japan has its own fair share bringing a positive position to the country after WW2 and we all know how they brought a massive damage to the whole country. But what is done is done right, we finally forgave them, in return we were given the chance to experience their culture through animes and their shows. And from these,a lot of good things came. They brought us to an imaginary world and stretched our imagination and entertained us even better than the usual western shows. They all came instantly and how we easily get attached to them. My childhood is rich with anime shows that sometimes I imagined myself being my favorite character and apply it to every game I play. Its been one of those positive effect of growing up watching animes; the fun it brought to your childhood days and how you realized from today that your childhood hasnt been waisted through the help of those shows. The anime era started back in the 70’s where robot animes are really famous to the youngsters from Voltes V to Daimos to Ultra Man to Mazinger Z. These robot anime vanished when the Marcos regime put a stop to it, the reason: he doesnt want all these shows to exploit the minds of the young kids. Anime shows has been laid down to rest during the dictatorship and came back after the Marcos greed is over. From then, local channels started to bring back the anime era in the country again, mind you, most of the animes were dubbed in English before then they finally put a different feel when they started dubbing it in Tagalog.
We were also entertained by animes that have a western touch to it but considering its actually made in Japan who cant forget:
Princess Sarah

The Trapp Family Singers

Remi ( this is one of the saddest anime ive seen and the Tagalog intro song was a hit back then)

Marcelino, Pan Y Vino ( after a few decade a local channel made an adaptation to this and made it into an inspirational soap opera and the term ” Bro” for God made a hit to the masses and people started to use it in their daily living)

Who cant forget the jolly Judy Abbot and the famous “Daddy Long Legs”

As the year passes by and the Anime was still on its peak, they started bringing action/adventure animes like:
Dragon Balls

Flame of Recca ( I remember imitating the main character by writing some Chinese characters I found at those calendars and wrote in on my arm as if I summoned the dragons)

Zenki ( a buddhist themed anime)

Ghost Fighter

GateKeeper, the AEGIS organization and their famous “Gate Open” chant

Law of Ueki ( one of my favorite anime) who say you cant use garbage again?? not with this anime. The main character can turn some piece of garbage into a massive tree, vines and big roots.

Monster Rancher

Lupin III, the most famous thief of all the anime characters. Fujiko, the most notable character with her big boobs.

Genesis Evangelion

Gundam series, one of the biggest anime to hit the Philippine Television.

Inuyasha

YAIBA

Samurai X

They also imported female dominated animes like the famous
Sailormoon

Saber Marionette

Magic Knight Rayearth

and Cardcaptor Sakura

Theres also a few competition anime shows like
Yakitate Japan

Slamdunk, Basketball is very popular here in the Philippines, that’s why an anime like this is also well known nationwide

Grander Musashi ( a fishing anime)

Cooking Master Boy ( the only chinese anime included here)

And the memories will never be complete without the cute and funny animes
Mermo de Pon

Doraemon

Akazukin Chacha, The Little Red Riding Hood-inspired anime.

Mojacko

Super Boink

Ranma 1/2

Sgt. Keroro

KuroChan

Time Quest, I cant forget the ” Lilipapad,Lilipad Takoreeeeee ” phrase and the gay genie and his master abdullah

Alice Academy ( this is the last anime Ive seen before moving to Canada)

and the funniest of them all
Shin Chan

The sweet old days that all this anime brought us, its very nostalgic . I miss my childhood days because of this show. We miss all the characters we loved and hated, we miss how we memorized all the chants and act like we have the same powers from the characters. These animes shaped our childhood and helped us enjoy our childhood and teen years compare to the new generations now. Sometimes its really fun to bring back all our childhood memories back again.
Like / Reblog if you're an anime / manga / kpop blog!
I don’t normally do these, but since I just remade my anime blog and stupid me deleted the other without looking who I wanted to follow - I need to follow more people!
So like / reblog if you’re an anime, manga, kpop, or asian photography blog. You don’t have to be following me nor do you have to follow me back (unless you like my blog and want to!) I’d just like an active dash is all :)!
I’ll check out everyone’s blog. But, don’t be discouraged if I don’t follow you, more than likely I will but just in case.
