My reactions when I heard about America doing their "own" Sherlock series.
First mention of it:

Suddenly they’re interested in doing a series of Sherlock Holmes.
I mean. It must be hard for them to watch someone out there doing a great job.
But then I thought of our BBC Sherlock:

Hearing that John is going to be a chick.

Seriously, WHY YOU PEOPLE HAVE TO RUIN EVERYTHING.
Is not the fucking same. NOTHING CAN BEAT JOHNLOCK.

You’re doing this just for people’s acceptance and that’s just sad.
You already spoil everything about Sherlock and Joan’s relationship, you losers.

Then, Lucy Liu as John.

THIS IS THE WORST THING ABOUT THE WHOLE THING.
Sherlock and John can now have the sex on the show:

WHATEVER.

Moffat hating on them.

I MEAN. CAN BE MORE PERFECT THAN THIS?

Funny how they want to make an American version of BBC's Sherlock when we've already made one...
It’s called “Psych.” Think about it; the characters and story line are different, yes, but:
- It’s two men, Shawn and Gus, that live together solving crimes [like Sherlock and John]
- The main character, Shawn, has the same method of “deduction” as Mr. Holmes [He doesn’t know, he notices]
- Shawn and Gus don’t actually work for the local police station, he’s just so brilliant at what he does, they constantly ask for his help
- There’s a member of the police force, Carlton, that doesn’t like Shawn [much like Sherlock and Anderson]

The only things that are extremely different is:
- Shawn actually experiences feelings for a woman
- It’s a comedy (Shawn doesn’t take anything seriously)
So there, there’s no need for another “American Sherlock;” we’ve already made one.

Happy Dance because I’ve think I’m the first to notice this?
If "Sherlock" was made by Americans:
1. Sherlock and John would be heterosexual. Like, actually heterosexual. Because over here everything is heterosexual. Especially FOX.
2. Sarah would have shown up in the first episode and had sex with John. Then it would be constantly alluded to, because even though American TV shies away from homosexuality, the whole damn country couldn’t tolerate a show *le gasp* WITHOUT SEX.
American Sherlock
{{ OOC: I don’t see what the big deal is. We already have a American version of Sherlock. In fact, it first aired in 2006 which makes it /way/ before the BBC version. It’s set in modern Santa Barbara, California and features a hyper observant man, his friend from the medical field, a skeptic police detective.
Ladies and Gentlemen, may I introduce you to the USA Original show, Psych.
