Let him be afraid of me.
Tam requested I meta about Alys Karstark and Daryn Hornwood, and this is what came of that.
There’s no doubt in my mind that one of the best subplots of A Dance With Dragons is the uncovering of the Northern ladies. As Tam pointed out in her perfect Northern meta, we never get the chance to see the North through the eyes of anyone who isn’t an outsider, and never is this more clear than in Dance. Our four Northern lady perspectives there are Davos Seaworth, who shows us House Manderly (fierce Wylla and Wynnie who played their parts well), Asha Greyjoy who shows us the militaristic Mormont sisters, Theon Greyjoy, who shows us the vengeful Barbrey Dustin, and of course Jon Snow, who shows us the brave Alys Karstark.

- #i was ridiculously happy to find that picture with her hair in a braid lbr
- #but yeah alys is totally one of those girls who's brought up in an excessively male environment and prides herself on being a tomboy
- #and like she gets along with her dad but they've never really been close
