Celebrity Styling with Alyanna Martinez

Fashion bloggers, fashion students and fashion enthusiasts flocked to SoFA last Saturday to attend the Celebrity Styling with Alyanna Martinez fashion capsule.

image

I learned a lot from Alyanna’s 3-hour crash course on styling. I had the opportunity to learn both theory and the practical aspects of fashion styling. She also discussed about the different styling jobs, styling tricks, pre and post production, as well as a few choice industry secrets.

image

As a stylist, it’s important that you know the latest trends, that you have people skills and that you know how to manage your time. You should never treat anything as a small job because it will eventually lead you to something better. You should also be prepared at all times. “You have to be ready for every scenario; always have options because something might go wrong,” she said.

image

We were also warned that celebrity styling isn’t easy, it’s about sweat, blood and tears. You’re on call 24/7. However, you’ll get through if you know how to comprise.

image

image

Since color-blocking is all the rage now, she decided to build an outfit based on the trend.

image

This “dressing room” was crafted with a hula hoop and black fabric. Talk about being resourceful!

image

To keep the shoes’ condition intact, it’s important to put masking tape on the soles of the shoes.

image

If the size of the garment you pulled-out/borrowed is big, you can use binder clips to achieve the perfect fit.

image

She styled SM’s GTW (Girls Teens’ Wear) summer catalog along with her bff stylist, Sidney Yap.

She has a bazillion accessories!

With SoFA student, Trish Baluyot. I love her edgy and laid-back style!

With Yanie Medina, who recently graduated from BSCT (Bachelor of Science in Clothing Tecnology) at the University of the Philippines, Diliman. Congratulations!!!

After the talk, Alyanna raffled off clip-on extensions from Hair Pieces. Luckily, I won! I wonder how I’m going to style these though. Straight or wavy? :) Anyway, I have SoFA to thank for this amazing opportunity. As always, thank you so much for inviting me!

Sad that you missed the capsule? Fret not as SoFA will be having another batch of the Celebrity Styling with Alyanna Martinez capsule this May 7, 2011! Check out their Facebook page for more information.

MEGAWORLD X HOLIDAY CAMPAIGN

People think that being a stylist is a very easy job. It is not! This probably the toughest shoot I did with Alyanna Martinez. We had around 10 models and 5 layouts. Imagine the amount of clothes, shoes and accessories we have to bring. The whole stash was divided into THREE cars. We pulled out from different designers and of course, from Eastwood Mall. If you saw me carrying around tons of shopping bags, I was pulling out for this. We were somehow in a state of panic before this day. We felt like we did not have enough clothes for options.

I definitely learned a lot from this shoot. One thing is, you can never be too prepared.

When I finally saw the billboard up on C5, I was so proud to point out to my boyfriend that we styled it. Aside from that, walking around Megaworld malls and seeing these makes me feel so giddy.  Job well done for us! <3

Loner Weekend.. is actually FUN <3

I’ve never been really alone on a weekend. I usually go to SM Sta. Mesa to meet up with my boyfriend or if he doesn’t have morning classes, we go to ATC :) or sometimes I just stay in school to attend meetings for our Prof Prac 4 or for the Central Student Council. I do have gimiks too, just like the UP JMA ADHOC Party last Septermber 1. :)

But last Saturday (September 15, 2012), I’ve enjoyed the quality time of being alone. :)

How my day went? :)

To exclude the part that it was flooded in Manila City Hall, (That really irritated me. Spent a total of 60 pesos just for the pedicab)

I went to the 33rd Manila International Bookfair at the SMX Convention Center. :)

My love for books suddenly erupted out of my chest!I mean, I’ve never imagined all of my favorite books in just one place and ON SALE!

I really really love reading and that explains my 300-300 eye vision. :)

THESE BOOKS are a must-haves! :)

And the real reason why I went to SM Mall of Asia?

To Come and Play with Goody! <3 I won a ticket in Divine Lee’s contest :)

Picture above: with Alyanna Martinez. :) I’ve been dying to ask her about hairstyles, like which hairstyle suits me best, or should I dye my hair, but I guess I was too shy! :))

Got a free Goody Bag! the Goody Bag contains a lot of freebies! <3

I had so much fun and learned a lot from these fashion experts :) Hoping to attend more workshops same as this! <3

Garage Street Dapper Kings Party

I came to the Garage Magazine’s 3rd Anniversary last Wednesday night which was held in Republiq! And the theme was 80’s Bboy! Here’s what I wore:

I love this jacket! I found it in my dad’s closet! By the way, do I even look like a Bad Boy?…not! Haha! But I guess, at least I followed the theme! When I got there, I noticed that some of them didn’t! Lol

I came with my hot friend, Nina

Fashion Styling with Alyanna Martinez x Coachella Bazaar

This post has long been overdue! Sorry for that! My sem just ended yesterday and I was so stressed everyday for the past two weeks. :(

So anyway, in my hopes of finding what career in fashion I want to pursue, Jerrinah and I attended Alyanna’s capsule class in SoFA.

Instead of learning about the super details of how to style, most of the time was a story-telling of “a day in the life of Alyanna Martinez.” I prefer that take on the class because I knew beforehand how stressful it is to be an on-call 24/7 stylist. The stories were traumatic bordering on horrible! I didn’t know it would be that hard like having to improvise when things go wrong, deal with bitchy clients and having no time for yourself. :( It was then cleared to me that styling is not about the clothes. Its is the whole look of your client - from hair to manicure to shoes to everything visible and touchable!

She then showed us her what seems to be a construction trunk but no! it’s her box full of accessories and styling secrets. It is where Ms. Alyanna does her magic to her clients. I wish I have that kind of a box!

She then made an on-the-spot styling session with Patricia Prieto as her model. Color blocking FTW!

I was beyond contented with the class. This made me think if styling is really for me. But the thing is, you have to work your A off to get paid well or else you’ll end up having peanuts for supper.

To encapsulate the capsule (wordplay intended haha), she said that “Money can’t buy you style but it can surely hire you a stylist.”

Met new awesome blogger friends Kisty and Ana!! :) It was so much fun meeting co-bloggers! I really learn a lot from meeting new ones.

And for her “despedida” before she goes to Spain for a summer tour, we went to the Coachella Bazaar afterwards! I was expecting more Coachella from the place but it was not what I was expecting. Bought new boots from Sole Service!

Uniqlo green plaid shirt | H&M polo | Topman straw hat

Topman skinny jeans | Pedro boots

I will miss you Jerrinah! Don’t forget my accessories from Spain! :)

Also, thank you to new FOLLOWERS!! i promise i’ll post more updates na. sorry for not being able to post “look” posts. I had not time before and have no one to take picture of me ‘cause I’m too shy na naman. :)

Alyanna Martinez x Benefab Party!

Photography is one thing that really I love but, aside from using it in my blog, I haven’t been using my camera. When Alyanna Martinez asked me to take photos for her birthday, I declined because I might not be able to deliver well because of I have a day job. Since I couldnt find anyone to cover for me, I decided to do it myself. I had to rush from Ortigas to Makati for two days. Thankfully, the odds were in my favor.

For this event, I wasnt just a photographer- I was also her guest. Being both at the same time is not easy! I had to cover everything that’s happening, the guests and personalities coming in…it’s a challenge. When work is like this, it doesn’t even feel like work at all.

The event was well attended by celebrities, family, and friends. Thanks to Alyanna’s Sponsor: Benefit, Beauty and Butter, Tokyo Posh and Flawless, the event was a huge success!

I was carrying TWO cameras around. One is courtesy of my friend Jarvin who lent me his Canon 60D, external flash and wide angle lens. <3 I was using my Canon 60D with 50mm lens. Both gave different effects and qualities. I love that I was able to deliver give them options.

Thanks to my bossing Alyanna Martinez for allowing me to cover your event! <3 I had so much fun!

Levi's Go Forth : Fall/Winter Collection

Today, the Levi’s® brand unveiled its 2012 Go Forth™ global marketing campaign. The spotlight of this year’s marketing initiative is the Levi’s® brand’s new Fall/Winter 2012 global collection, which features a refined and tailored look made for those who get dressed each morning with purpose.

image

image

The 2012 campaign is titled “This is a pair of Levi’s®.” The centerpiece of the global campaign is a 60-second film directed by Lance Acord that depicts individuals putting on their Levi’s® jeans in the morning and preparing to face the day. We watch them as they button their jeans, tuck in their shirts, get on their cars or bikes, and head out the door, all the while repeating the mantra “You’re the next living leader of the world. You’re gonna be great, you’re gonna be great, you’re gonna be great.” They are teachers, they are musicians, they are interns and public servants, they are young but they are determined, and they believe in changing the world by getting up every day and living their life with purpose and intent.

image

By wearing a pair of Levi’s ® jeans, anything is possible.” said John Medalla, Country Head of Levi Strauss Philippines, Inc. “This campaign is designed to ignite a new generation of pioneers to believe in the Levi’s® brand as much as we believe in them.”, said Mary Alderete, Global Vice President of Levi’s® Brand Marketing. “

image

The new 2012 Fall/Winter collection is made for those who get dressed each morning with purpose, with the intention and optimism to make a positive difference in the world.

The men’s collection offers classic, yet contemporary head-to-toe looks built around refined styles with sharp clean aesthetics, tailored to perfection. The key trend for men this season is the taper - a flattering fit that sits below the waist, slouchy at the top and featuring an extended rise and a slim tailored leg.

The overall style of the women’s collection is classic and refined with a clean, tailored aesthetic and pronounced femininity. The key pant silhouette for women this season is the Bootcut Skinny, which the Levi’s® brand has completely reinvented.

Here’s are some of the photos from the event:
