AlphaSphere is a well-rounded musical instrument

Music production/performance technology is rounding traditional formats and is headed into the next generation of innovative gear. The sphere is what lies beyond the horizon. Its perfectly symmetrical form takes on the notion of the universe’s boundless potential. As does the shape of the AlphaSphere, a globular musical instrument of the future. It’s round design presents users with a new feel for sound. The tactile interface uses 48 pressure sensitive pads to provide a new sense of expression through electronic music.

Been watching a couple of videos of the AlphaSphere today and I’m impressed by what it can do. It can basically replace a whole midi setup with its spherical interface of different sized pressure-sensitive pads (that’s hooked into a computer and run off of a computer program).
Check out the two videos below. The first shows an early all-black prototype and the second shows a more finalized concept turned white.
