“If you've ever lost someone you love, be patient and Allah will not only reunite you with that person, but He'll also allow you to be in His presence in paradise. "Allah says: 'My faithful servant's reward from Me, if I have taken away his best friend from amongst the inhabitants of the world and he has then bore it patiently for My sake, shall be nothing less than Paradise.'" [Bukhari]”—Sh. Omar Suleiman
This dunya is cursedThe Prophet, sallalahu alaihi wa salam, said:
“The dunya is cursed. Cursed is all that is in it except for the remembrance of Allah, and that which resembles it, a scholar, and a student (of knowledge).” [Related by Tirmidhee, Ibn Maajah, and Bayhaqi. The wording is taken from Shaykh al-Albaanee’s Sahīh at-Targhīb wat-Tarhīb (1/34)]
Ali ibn Abi Talib. radi’Allahu ‘anhu:
“Verily, the dunyais coming to an end and the Akhirah is coming to a beginning and they both have children. So be children of the Akhirah and don’t be children of the Dunya. For verily today there is action with no account and tomorrow there is account with no action”
[Related by Ibn al-Qayyim]
Hassan al-Basree, radi’Allahu ‘anhu:
“So beware of this land (the dunya) that is falling down and is misleading and deceiving, being decorated by its deceit and having eluded (others) by its delusion, and having killed its people with its hopes. It looks forward with anticipation towards the one who proposes to it for marriage. Hence it becomes like the unveiled bride – all the eyes are looking towards it, and the souls are in love with it, and the hearts are captivated by it.”
[Related by Abu Nu’aym in al-Hilyah (2/135-136)]
“I want you to think that your eyes are like camera lenses, your ears and mouth are like MP3s, your mind is your modem, your heart is your hard drive, everything you see, everything you hear, everything you say, is downloaded and recorded. And they will be uploaded on Judgement Day. Will you be proud of that DVD that you will see?”—Sheikh Alaa Elsayed
“When we contemplate the duration of the universe, we see it limited to the present moment, which is nothing more but the point which separates two infinities of time. The past and the future are as meaningless as if they did not exist. Is anyone more misguided than the man who barters an eternal future for a moment which passes quicker than the blink of an eye? ”—Ibn Hazm Al Andalousi (994-1064 A.D., Al Akhlaq wa’l Siyar
“When we first experience this world (dunya), we become so impressed by its glitter. So we love it. Then once the glitter falls away, we become disappointed, so we hate it. Eventually we grow up further and begin to see, and interact with dunya for what it really is: Something we need not hate--nor love. Just something we need to *use*. Allah describes dunya as a 'mata'a'. Among other meanings, 'mata'a' is a resource, a tool. A tool is what you make of it. It can help you--or it can kill you. Dunya is simply the bridge you must cross to take you back Home. Who gets attached to a bridge? Don't miss the point by either loving or hating it. The focus isn't the bridge. The focus is what's on the other side!”—Yasmin Mogahed
What if none of your deed were accepted?
What if you were too negligent about ensuring they were according to the sunnah?
What if you were too proud of them?
What if your intentions were impure?
What if your aqeedah was distorted?
What if you were showing them off?
What if you stood before your Lord on the Day of Resurrection, empty handed because all of your efforts were wasted while you were living in this dunya with a mindset of a guaranteed Jannah?
How do you know you haven’t yourself invalidated your actions?
Indeed Allah is the Most Merciful but what happens to us in the hereafter, will be brought forward by our own hands.
[They are] those whose effort is lost in worldly life, while they think that they are doing well in work.”
