I'm genuinely pissed off right now!

So Thandiwe just told me that our school (well, my old school) is planning on banning afros/natural hair and weaves next year because they’re inappropriate for school.

okay….

First of all the school council and teachers that are pushing for this are white.

Now that says a lot. The racism is fucking blatant that I dont think they even realise it.

Second of all, how is our hair inappropriate?? The hair I was born with is deemed inappropriate. Im genuinely hurt by this.

In the 4 years that I was in that school I witnessed our people being harrassed about their hair. “Its too long”, “The colour is against the rules”, “The style is too fancy” but white people were free to walk around with their crazy ass hair. I was once told to tie or straighten my hair by a white teacher because she found it messy. I was equally disturbed and angered by this.

You know what, I’m actually too pissed to write any further.

Fuck that damn school

Fuck the black parents that will keep quiet, out here behaving like these white people owe you something whilst their kids are being oppressed of a BASIC RIGHT!!! FREEDOM OF CHOICE!!
