Princeless #2 Review

“Princeless continues to be charming it’s way into my heart with a few more hiccups than the last – but it still has a clever ingenuity about it, good humor and heart.  As well as a sword-wielding and pissed-off princess atop her mighty mentally-defunct fire-breathing dragon.  But in the over-arching story, this issue is not relevant and wastes time this mini-series needs.”

Another great issue, but overall it feels unnecessary…

Princeless #1 Review

“Once upon a time, in a castle full of plot-holes there lived the princess Adrienne… who thought fairytales were hogwash and could take care of herself.  Who needs a prince?  Adrienne is happily princeless.”

Great comic - even if I already know about the happy ending that’s sure to follow.

MOMBcomics Interview: Brandon Barrows

mombcomics.com

JonMOMB interviews Brandon Barrows, writer of Jack Hammer from Action Lab Comics.

So, I started thinking about what makes noir and what the concept was lacking. All true noir has one thing in common: the main character has something hanging over their head that influences the character heavily and often the story. The question became what is Jack’s albatross? And then it occurred to me that there’s one thing almost everyone dislikes about themselves in some respect and nobody can change: their biology.

After that, the idea that Jack was an unhappy superhuman, and the idea of powers being central to the story, let me smoothly fill in the gaps and make JACK HAMMER a richer and more satisfying story.
