So Long, Farewell and I'll See You In Three Months

So I’m about to become a hermit for the next three months for all the right reasons. Games. Okay, so, becoming a hermit might be slightly exaggerating things, but I am going to have some amazing games to play and not enough time to play them. Why do four incredible looking games have to come out within three weeks of each other!? Let me show you the problems I face. (I know, my life’s difficult.)

1. Battlefield 3 (25/10/11)

I’ve already talked about how much I’m looking forward to Battlefield 3. If you don’t think that the trailer above looks amazing enough, wait until you play the multiplayer, you’ll be a war grizzled veteran by the end of it. I have a sneaking suspicion that this will be the game that soaks up the majority of my hermitage. I mean, JUST LOOK AT IT! It’s going to be pretty sweet.

2. Uncharted 3. (3/11/11)

The Uncharted series is definitely my favourite of this generation. If you can’t tell how action packed and cinematic the game is by the trailer, well, ah… awkward. It’s just impossible not to have fun while playing as Nathan Drake, if he’s not beating down on bad guys, he’s making wisecrack remarks. Actually, even when he is beating down on bad guys, he’s making wisecrack remarks. Definitely my kind of ’hero’. Uncharted 3 is shaping up to be the best looking of the series. Can’t wait to play it. Squeeeeeel.

3. Assassins Creed: Revelations (15/11/11)

If Uncharted is my favourite series of this generation, then Assassins Creed is a close second. Hell, if the trailer above doesn’t make you feel warm and fuzzy inside and then want to kill some bad guys as a 15th century assassin, well, there’s just something wrong with you. The Assassins Creed games have a way of just sucking you into the conspiracy that makes up the games story and then there’s the present day element. Because the purpose of going in to the past is trying to find out what is god damn going on in the present day for Desmond and why did he stab Lucy, is he going crazy, who the hell is Eve?… I’ll stop there, it’s complicated, but a great story.

4. Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (11/11/11)

Skyrim I’m not 100% sold on. I’ve never been a real fantasy RPG gamer, I guess because I’ve never been really interested in fantasy? But Skyrim has caught my eye. Just the fact that it has a huge open world where you can play your character any way you want, interact with objects and other characters in so many ways, make your character whoever you want them to be and see those choices reflected in the game world, it seems really cool to me. But once again, I’m not much of an RPG gamer and with so many great games vying for my attention, Skyrim will really have to really suck me in deep to keep me playing.

5. SSX  (—/01/11)

Last but certainly not least is SSX. I know it comes out in January, but it’s likely to keep me inside for a couple more weeks. SSX Tricky way back in the PS2 days was one of my favourite games. It was was crazy, fast and so much fun. Now they’re rebooting the series on the current gen systems. SSX games have always had great soundtracks too, the music really makes the game. I’m really looking forward to being able to pick out some of the most insane mountains around the world and carve some tracks down them as far as the snow goes.

So now my friends will know, if they don’t see my pretty face around town as much, what I’ll be up to, ie. having glorious amounts of fun.

Those Moments In Assassin's Creed When.....

(I’m just gonna combine these to avoid making a bunch of posts all at once)

~

That Moment When….

You’re trying to get the achievement for climbing the Hagia Sophia in under 25 seconds, but Ezio decides to go ahead and jump in the pile of hay halfway up the building and you’re like

image

and by the tenth try at climbing this thing you’re just like

image

That Moment When….

Not long after the little fiasco mentioned above you jump off a roof top and start walking along through the street and you hear someone scream behind you followed by a loud crash so you turn to your sister and you’re like “I think someone just tried to jump into a pile of hay but they missed, they jumped into a pile of death”.

That Moment When….

Everyone’s trying to break down the gate during the riot and there’s one dude just standing there in the middle like

image

That Moment When….

You apparently scare the last guard standing in a group so bad he won’t attack you unless your back is turned and he starts backing off the second you turn around.

That Moment When….

You’re chasing a target and this happens:

Yusuf headcanon; Middle Eastern Jack Sparrow-esque borderline genius drunk.

Using zip-lines in AC:Revelations while screaming "WHEEEEEEEW!".

I’ve had my heart being overwhelmed by feels because of fictional characters from a book, a movie, a TV show, a fanfic, an animated movie. But I’ve never thought that a day would come, when I’d say that I’ve been consumed by the story and the personality of a fictional character from a video game.

Ezio Auditore da Firenze, you’ve swept me off my feet.
