#389 Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows

When I asked my friend what she thought of Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows when it first came out, she replied that it gave Tumblr fangirls exactly what they want. And I finally understand what she means. But, does that make this film a good movie? In my opinion no. The steam punk Victorian era vibe took me back to another movie. This movie an eccentric person who loved to dress up in colorful costumes and make crazy inventions. The villain was just as smart as he and in fact built a giant spider. Yeah, Sherlock Holmes reminded me of Wild Wild West. To be fair it is nowhere as bad as that film but the intent was there. There is just so much excess in the action scenes and quippy dialogue that it made me sick. And who really cared about whatever cockamamie plot that was concocted for Professor Moriarty to unleash on Holmes. With the BBC series Sherlock out, you would think quality would rise above a miniseries but it didn’t. And why can Sherlock and Moriarty telekinetically  speak to each other.
