Learning To Play The Drums: Learn about Drums
If you think that beginner drum lessons merely involves banging the drum every now and then, think again. Playing the drums is not as easy as it looks TV and during concerts. To find the best music schools, ask for referrals from friends and family members who are also into music. Asking referrals from people that you know is very important because this can give you some ideas on what you can expect from a certain music school. In event where you do not know anybody who can give your referrals to a good music school, it would be a good idea for you to conduct your own independent research. When taking drum lessons, it would be a good idea for you to have your own drum set or drum kit. Note that a musician should feel comfortable with his or her own set of musical instruments so it would be best for you to practice using your own drums. Love my mom
A commercial came on for Just Dance and my mom starts dancing in the chair. Then says “what’s this?” of course the tv answers her and explains its Just Dance for the wii. She looks at me and says, “Ooh we got that? Can we get that? We need to get that.” Obviously buying this when I go out today.

Somehow 25 descriptions aren’t enough but I’ll try to fit what I can..this is in no particular order.
1. The one thing EVERYONE knows about me: my dream is to make it to UF for undergrad (I’d kill to be a Gator but I’m also so afraid I won’t make it.), go to Columbia University or Mizzou for grad school, and become a big-time journalist hitting the big city with my little notepad hellbent on making a difference in the world and writing all about my encounters. I don’t believe I’d truly be happy if my life turned out any other way.
2. I miss my UM peeps. They were the first group of people I felt really understood my drive to pursue journalism. We have yet to form a reunion. Any day now guys…
3. I secretly draw anime as a hobby from time to time. Not much of a secret anymore lol.
4. I am a Starbucks junkie and recently became a Monster fan. Roger thinks it’s unhealthy. I personally don’t care. They’re yummy and practical :P
5. I don’t go out much at all. Honestly, it frustrates me but not as much as it would if I didn’t have my work for me to fall back on.
6. I tend to befriend older people. 2-3 years older, which isn’t much; but in high school it’s like a decade, especially when they go off to college and you get left behind.
7. Linkin Park is my FAVORITE band in the world. I went to the ‘07 Projekt Revolution concert with Jorge and Mercy—it was the best day of my life. I think Chester made eye contact with me! LOL. No Jorge, not you, ME!
8. I’m a busy bee. I hardly have time to hang out with people, let alone watch TV on my free time because I have none.
9. Heroes is addicting. No other show has gotten me so hooked in my entire life. I adore Milo Ventimiglia (Peter Petrelli) but I think Hiro has the coolest power.
10. I used to be a huge MAO nerd but I never cared for the math. Like I said, I’m more of a writer. I joined for the people who, year after year, got sucked into college life. The club just keeps getting smaller. It’s a shame.
11. I’d like to learn to play piano, but it’s a little late for me. Most people that play were either child prodigies or started to learn very young. (I.E. Ephram on Everwood).
12. I love to blog and I enjoy reading other people’s blogs [particularly Melissa’s—I always get a kick out of reading her writing. She’s colorful, that girl]. LiveJournal and Twitter are the best. I owe that to my Miami Montage summer.
13. My best friends are Lara and Juan and I have no idea where I’d be without them. <3
14. I love Twilight. I blame Lara and Kat. I originally thought Twilighters were Harry Potter sellouts. I take it back! I do, I do, I do.
15. I’m a stickler for grammar. Don’t let me catch you slipping up or I WILL correct you lol.
16. Leonard Pitts is my hero. He inspires me to chase after everything I dream.
17. I want to be more culturally connected to the world. I’d love to visit Museums, watch Operas, and the whole nine yards but still wouldn’t mind kicking it at a basketball game.
18. Music keeps me alive. Melodramatic? Maybe. But I can’t stand being away from it for more than a few hours [school tends to get in the way].
19. My mind wanders way too much and it often gets me in trouble when I think about things I’m trying to avoid.
20. I wish I were better at public speaking and communicating with people. I think that’s why I love to write—because I get to hide behind my words. I would much rather confront you through a note rather than in person or over the phone.
21. The best thing in the world is to lay back and watch a meteor shower at three in the morning waiting for the perfect moment to make a wish.
22. I believe 11:11 P.M. wishes are actually worth something.
23. I always say I wish I would’ve gone to another high school. If I had, I never would’ve met the people I now call my best friends and I wouldn’t have come across the same opportunities I thank God for having.
24. I love homos. Lol. They’re all kinds of fun. You can take ‘em shopping, get guy advice, and ask them questions you wouldn’t ask your chick friends.
25. I want to travel the world and never settle down. I don’t think anyone would be able to keep up with me, let alone be willing to try. I often think about studying abroad. Juan and I also have a Europe trip pending in the next couple of years in addition to our New York Trip. -

…but instead I’m sitting in my parents house in Creedmoor, NC. listening to smooth jazz and watching my Dad read conspiracy theories on his laptop. Why did I choose to leave so early to come to NC?
Well… there was supposed to be an epic Christmas party at Buckhead Saloon in Raleigh on Friday. My friend won some giveaway on the radio and had the entire place rented out, $1 mixed drinks/beer, and it was gonna be a blast. Well, due to the “blizzard” here (all 1/2” of it) it was cancelled. So I’ve just been slouching around watching cable TV and drinking my weight in coffee/beer.

Wag Scala is 22 and swears it’s all one big misunderstanding.
MOSSLESS: How much planning goes into your more staged images? Do you have a clear idea of what you want the image to look like before you take it?
WAG SCALA: Hello mizak. The staged things typically go like this: I’ll come up with a basic concept. Person tied to a chain link fence. Then I’ll just kind of imagine all the possible ways it could end up looking, mentally note what I’m aiming for, then consider known or other potential locations… then I’ll call someone. These shoots have been known to evolve in the course of 15 minutes. I definitely have a specific shot in mind each time, and will aim for that initially. The best part, though, is letting things evolve naturally and shooting that. I don’t like to direct very much at all. People can detect insincerity.
MS: You have a pretty distinct style. When did you begin to create art that fits into your current body of work?
WS: I think photography is a lot like hunting (sorry vegans), and you generally know what you’re looking for, where to find it, and what to do when you get there. Over the last year or two I’ve been interested in finding dirt, both literally and figuratively. More recently though, it’s been about looking for themes within this dirty umbrella. Specifically, religious parallels, references to painting traditions, the interaction between two individuals/body language, etc.
MS: Much of your work seems very cinematic to me. Have you considered making films?
WS: Literally a few hours ago today I was just thinking that. I would totally love to. It’s a whole different beast but I think the complexities would work to my advantage. Just adding sound changes your perceptions so much.
MS: In your senior thesis, your photographs are presented in a pretty untraditional manner. How important is it for you to extend the image, and do you plan to continue working in such a manner?
WS: This is the other big concept I’m trying to work with, content aside. Photography is a pretty ‘safe’ medium, in that very rarely is your reaction dictated by more than your eyes. For me, art is about the experience of viewing it just as much as the work itself. Traditional gallery spaces are all the same experience, no matter how different the images are. I enjoy manipulating the viewers response by controlling how they receive the information. The more senses involved the better, the more unpredictable the better. In one portion of my thesis, mass amounts of images are displayed physically layered upon each other… this busy over-abundance of visual information sort of blends together like hearing broken sentences as someone changes channels on the tv. I did not want the pictures to seem precious. These and others will be displayed in an installation with music. By controlling what people see, hear, have to move through and touch, I feel like I can make the whole “event” much more dynamic and challenging. I definitely have a desire to pursue this with further exhibitions.
