Sign upCan I just return to that “Did you know there are like 6,000 kinds of tomatoes” line for a second?
The Winchesters buy all their food from diners and fast food places and gas station convenience stores. They basically live their lives moving from food desert to food desert. They rarely have a kitchen available, so they don’t buy food that needs to be prepared.
Dean has never gone shopping for produce before. He’s never bought a tomato.
But he bought some for Kevin.
And now they have a kitchen.
I’m sorry, I’m just having a lot of feelings about Dean Winchester and food right now.
SAMMY LET ME LOVE YOU.
That scene at the end, everything he said to Dean. I haven’t had Winchester bros feels in so long, but that scene almost made me tear up.
Finally both can really understand the other. Dean accepting that this isn’t IT for Sam, and wanting Sammy to get out and have his happy ending, and Sam wants his brother to fight his depression (because that’s what Dean has), and find a reason to live.

I always have a lot of feelings on Wednesday night (lbr, I have a lot of feelings all the time), but you know it was a good episode when they’re not all awful.
It is heartbreaking to me that Dean sees himself as worth so little, but I also have hope that they brought it up in this episode in order to finally, finally, finally deal with that. They made a good start by having Sam make that little speech. It really touched me that Sam brought up the fact that they have a home now, because they never really have before, and I hope having that will make Dean feel better about his future.
Also, Sam taking care of Kevin was the sweetest thing. Dean tried (aw, bb, “six thousand kinds of tomatoes,” for some reason that made me love you and hurt for you at the same time) but then he got caught up in projecting his own “it’s the one-yard line, time to play through the pain” issues onto Kevin. Fingers crossed that Sam will make sure both Kevin and Dean make it through this.
I know we’re not out of the woods yet, but I think we might be headed that direction, and that feels like a huge relief to me.
So glad the scene with Sam showing concern for Kevin’s well being happened.
Because poor bb, he barely sleeps, barely eats, and he’s getting sick. The only thing he does is working on the tablets. And that of course it’s a very important task, but I feel bad for him, because he lost his life, basically.
