Growing up in England, one may assume that this girl has forgotten her culture, value and heritage.
Well, I’m happy to say, I have not.
Today is Bangladesh’s independence day. To all of those who are unaware, Bangladesh is less than 50 years old. Today, it’s 41.
And I am so pleased with the progress made. True, I’m a British Bangladeshi, I’m equally a brit as I am a desi.
But, let it be known, I can’t wait to go back to you, Bangladesh.
The rice fields, paddy fields, rivers and banana trees whilst cruising down the motorway to get to Sylhet fro Dhaka. How I miss that.
Then, the birth of a metropolitan lifestyle. The city and tantalising danger, possibility and beginning.
FOOD. Do not get me started on the lovely food.
Family, I miss them speechless.
Air. The humid, changing, rainy air.
Sun, amar Banglar’ roid.
(Happy Independence day, just a collection of thoughts I’m having, sorry if it’s too patriotic for some, I’m not usually)
