Every time I hear this I am blown away by everything about it.  The haunting melody with its atmospheric orchestration.  The stellar, STELLAR performance.  The clearest and pithiest lyric in the show.  A+.  A fucking +.

The 35mm cast recording is available for download on iTunes. You should download it. If you don't, look at your life, look at your choices, and then don't be my friend.

Day 9- A song that makes you happy

Make Me Happy from 35MM: A Musical Exhibition

Album in Profile: Ryan Scott Oliver’s 35MM: A Musical Exhibition

bit.ly

Remember that time in High School when your boyfriend wrote you a song inspired by a snap you took for your fourth period photography class?

Yeah, well, 35MM: The Musical Exhibition is nothing like that.

Sure, back in 2009, composer Ryan Scott Oliver was inspired by his boyfriend, photographer Matthew Murphy’s work. But instead of writing some sappy drivel about ‘love’ from ‘above,’ Oliver put together an ambitious song-cycle that might as well be sixteen miniature musicals.

“To taste devotion in an infinite sense, to make a love bound by no golden band, no-o-o. There are no conditions and believe no pretense for this a union we cannot understand.”

This or That:

The Producers or RENT - RENT

Wicked or Chicago - Chicago

Fiddler on the Roof or Oklahoma - Kill me

Hairspray or Grease - Kill me again.

I’m so in love with the 35MM soundtrack that I actually bought it. Like, with money. It’s that good.
