Shooting at 14fps with the Canon 1D X to get 5K video
An interesting take on 5K video using Canon’s flagship DSLR the 1D X. Basically, if you shoot in the camera’s burst mode (which is 14fps) in full resolution, you can get pretty close to what is called the flicker fusion threshold which is the lowest possible framerate a human can see before things begin to look choppy (like the video above).
True, the usefulness of this pseudo-hack is limited, but if you are REALLY wanting to get 5K video for cheap, the 1D X’s 18.1MP can get you pretty darn close without the video looking too much like stop-motion.
