Joy #17
When I am unsure,
I take the pots and pans and stack
them in elaborate geometric arrangements around my kitchen.
That is a lie,
but somedays I measure the lines on my palms,
adding sharpie to the shortest until they’re all equal.
I count out my life in steady steps,
don’t stand on the cracks,
don’t talk too loud.
Do, do, do
make a list.
To do:
1. Make sure my heart beats even.
2. Repeat
Backstage | RAW | 1.17.13
Returning to RAW, Triple H sat in his office staring across the desk at Eve Torres. The two were deep in conversation when the cameras picked them up.
“Yes, I’m sure. They’ve allowed me to start working out this week. I haven’t gone too overboard with it. I’m being careful. I don’t want to do something that will make me miss even more time.” She handed over the papers in her lap, release forms from her doctors about her rib injuries. Standing up, she moved to sit on the arm of her chair as he nodded looking over the papers.
“Okay, well, that was only part of what you needed to do. The other part was what would have taken more effort. How are you doing with that?” He looked her up and down, a concerned look on his face. Eve shrugged a little, “I’ve put on about half of what I needed to gain back. I’m trying, I promise. I eat every few hours and I’m not being as picky about what I eat. I know you wanted me to gain it all back by now but I really am trying.”
Hunter nodded and looked from the paperwork to the brunette standing in front of him. “Well, I guess you’re trying since you managed actual clothes instead of the sweats you’ve been hiding in. Are the bruises gone now?” Eve bit her lip and lifted her shirt a bit and glanced down. “For the most part. You should have seen them over the break. It was disgusting.” He nodded again, “Okay, I’ll let you come back since you’re making an attempt, but you have to keep trying. Sound fair?”
Eve nodded and promised to continue working before turning to leave. Upon exiting and heading down the hall, a small smile on her face, she bumped into a shorter figure, her smile fading. Layla turned and smirked up at the Denver native. “Are you done kissing up, dearest?” Eve crossed her arms and laughed a little. “I don’t have to kiss up to people, Layla. That’s something that you’re a professional at and I wouldn’t want to attempt to do something that you’re known for.” The British diva glared at the former champion and shook her head. “You’re so full of it. And it’s slightly pathetic how you run around like you’re so much better than people but then you cry about everything. Quite disgusting.”
Eve laughed and shook her head, “You’re the pathetic one, Layla. You go on and on about nothing. You act like you’re the greatest thing in this division and yet, you haven’t done a thing. How many times have you left only to return and claim that you’re not going anywhere and then you leave again. I thought you learned your lesson last time, but maybe I didn’t make things clear. We don’t want you here. The only one that does is McCool and she doesn’t amount to much either. You’re both pathetic.”
Layla crossed her arms and rolled her eyes. “If you say so, Evelyn. Trust me, you’re nothing.” Eve quickly cut her off, “Look, it you want to prove to people that I’m so horrible, get in the ring with me next week. Hell, you can have McCool in there if you want. I’ll take you both.” With that, she turned and walked away, leaving the Brit glaring after her as the show faded to commercial.
Dean Ambrose vs. Evan Bourne| RAW | 1.17.13
The main event for the night started out with Evan Bourne’s enthusiastic entrance, Kofi Kingston at his friend’s side in a show of solid loyalty. Dean Ambrose’s entrance was accompanied by a less than enthusiastic looking Cody Rhodes, the two men in the midst of a conversation as they walked to the ring. With the two competitors in the ring, Kofi took a seat at the announce table and Cody sat himself on the barricade as the bell rang.
Evan wasted no time going on the offensive and doing his best to keep Dean off balance and himself in control of the match up. It went on in this fashion for awhile, the high flier dominating the first part of the match with a combination of speed and strategy. He knew better than trying to match Dean with force and had taken an alternate route.
Things looked to be in Evan’s favor as time wore on, allowing him to lay Dean out on the mat to set up for Air Bourne. Confident in his position in the match up at the moment, Evan climbed to the top turnbuckle of the corner facing Cody’s chosen perch. Pausing crouched on the top rope, Evan called over to him.
“Told you I could handle him!” As the high flier grinned confidently at the confident younger male, Cody could be seen holding his hands up to clap slowly for a moment before motioning toward the ring as Kofi started trying to get his teammate’s attention back onto his opponent.
“You shouldn’t take your attention away from a shark, flippy.” Cody was heard calling back, just as Evan started turning himself around on the turnbuckle towards his opponent.
Dean met him with a surprise by throwing himself into the ropes near the corner, forcing Evan off balance so he stooped down again to keep from falling. Without skipping a beat, the WWE champion followed up by quickly starting to climb the turnbuckle himself and land a solid punch to Evan’s head, followed by several more quick shots. The two men soon fell into a fight for control on the ropes, the entire struggle ending with Dean pulling off a superplex.
Rolling out of the ring immediately after, Dean shook his head violently to get rid of the after-effects of the match so far and paced over to Cody, patting his arm a bit roughly. Nearby, Kofi could be seen getting up to go and check on Evan who was slowly rolling himself out of the ring, as well. Dean looked over briefly before looking at Cody, saying something inaudible to the camera, the only part of the response caught being a “no” in the middle of a statement that made the champion smirk.
“You say that now. Just watch, bitch-boy.” Dean told him, voice raising as he turned.
Cody was suddenly forced to abandon his seat, just barely avoiding becoming part of a collision as Evan came barreling over the steel steps before them and slammed into Dean, forcing him into the barricade right where Rhodes had been perched. The two men slid to the ground, Evan getting up to attempt to capitalize only to be met with Dean’s own physicality, leading the two of them into a back and forth outside the ring as the ten count went on, the two men alternatively managing to stop the count in the midst of the struggle to take and keep control.
Evan managed to gain the advantage, maintaining it again for a bit before throwing Dean into the steel steps and rolling into the ring just long enough to break the ten count yet again before climbing back out onto the apron. As the WWE champion stood up again Evan attempted a diving DDT, only to find himself caught and thrown mid-air into the barricade, allowing Dean to take control of the match up from there. He beat down on Evan for a space of time, going so far as to break the count going into the ring for a split second as the other man had before returning to business outside on the mat.
After a moment, though, he looked around the ringside area. Locating where Cody had moved to then looking towards Kofi at the announce table, Dean smirked. He turned his attention back to Evan and started working on the man again, throwing him into the nearby steel post and continuing to drag and toss him around, moving closer to his tag partner. After breaking the count once more, Dean yanked Evan up so that he was holding him with both arms behind his back, dragging him closer to an unimpressed looking Rhodes. The cameras switched briefly over to show the now once again alert Kofi standing up behind Dean, seeming more than ready for the match to end and a fight to start.
“I hold, you punch, Rhodes.” Dean offered, tone mocking as he shook the now-struggling Bourne a bit. “You’ll pout if I don’t let you beat someone up.”
“Shut up. Finish your match.” Cody’s response, picked up by the cameras easily, sounded exasperated as he made a shooing motion at his friend.
“Free shot bitch-boy.” Rolling his eyes in irritation, Cody went as if to land a punch to Evan’s face, stopping right before his fist landed and earning a roll of the eyes in turn from Dean. “Goddamn you are a puss.”
“I swear to God, Psycho—”
“Just do it—”
“You’re going to get count—”
“Don’t give a fuck.”
Cody glared for a second at his tag partner, the referee’s count hitting nine before he suddenly lashed out again, slamming his fist into Dean’s face. As the bell rang out to signal a disqualification, the WWE champion was quick to shove Evan in the direction of the incoming Kofi, forcing the black male to stop in his tracks. Aware of the tag champions usual track record, Air Boom was quick to regroup and turn to face the other two men in preparation for a brawl.
Nothing happened for a long moment, silence reigning between the two teams as they stood mere feet from each other. Just as Dean started to move forward to initiate the fight, however, Cody caught his arm to halt him. Waving a hand at the others, Rhodes moved around his partner in order to walk away. The camera view trailed after them as Dean followed, the two men seeming to have an argument as they left. As RAW started to come to a close, the cameras switched back to show Kofi and Evan at ringside still, watching the two men with looks of confusion on their features, obviously not understanding the lack of a post-match fight

Ed Sheeran | Houston- 1.17.13
I’m starting this blog off with a post on the Ed Sheeran concert last night. It was the best ever. I got there around 3:30 and when we got in the venue we were pretty close to the front, but my friend kept having panic attacks so we left the crowd which was actually more stressful than being in the crowd. But we made our way to the front of the barricade before anyone came on to perform.
It was literally the best concert ever. There’s something about the smaller venue that makes the whole experience more personal. When the guitar unplugged from the amp, when he was trying to get everyone quiet and he was like “If you loved me you’d be quiet”, and how he giggled after he sang ‘and i get drunk a lot’ during wake me up; I just feel like Ed tries to make the concert have a personal connection. And I just love him and I have post concert depression but I can’t stop listening to him.
Not to mention how good foy vance and rizzle kicks were…
