Do you plan on Submitting to Issue 02??

Hey guys- Trying to plan some stuff for Issue 02 and it would be IMMENSELY helpful, if you’re planning on submitting, if you could answer this post with which genre(s) you plan on submitting to.

———————-

The genres: Short fiction, short nonfiction, poetry, and photography.

The guidelines: Word limit 2500 words for short fic/nonfic, 75 lines maximum for poetry, max 5 photographs.

The submission period: The first 3 weeks of January (approximately). When submissions open I will post a link to the submission page here on Yeah Write.

———————-

Knowing how many people plan on submitting will help me choose how many staffers to have on each genre. It also affects which plan I sign up for on Submittable.

If you applied to be a staffer but plan on submitting a work if you don’t get hired, you can still answer this post too.

If you want me to answer any other questions about the review before you answer this post, send an ask to me here.

Thank you so much! Huge help!!

If you want to keep in the know, all posts relevant to The Yeah Write Review | Issue 02 will be tagged YWR2. For everything you need to know about submitting to Issue 02, this post is your guide.

Welcome to that creative writing class you've always wanted to take

The Yeah Write Review | Issue 02

Release day has finally arrived!

The Yeah Write Review is more than just a literary magazine—it’s your new creative writing textbook! But don’t worry, it’s full of fun stuff, and there are no deadlines or homework assignment except WRITE!

The Review features 10 writing advice articles written by English majors, Creative Writing MFA candidates, and published authors. Feel like they forgot something? Have an anecdote about tackling that particular writing technique that you want to share? Think our article is a bunch of bulshit? Click on the Two Cents icon that’ll take you right over to class—unique message boards for each article where you can share your two cents about the topic (similar to when we have discussions right here on Yeah Write!).

And don’t worry, we didn’t forget the entertainment. The Review also has 5 short stories, 6 poems, and 3 nonfiction pieces by writers from all walks of the literary life. We think these pieces will knock your socks off, and they’re all short enough to be read on your subway ride, the toilet, or before bed.

We also have a new store! Very exciting.

Purchase your print and/or digital copy here.

Having a hard time structuring your plot? Writing about mental disorders or death? Creating questionable characters, or telling your story from multiple points of view?

The Yeah Write Dream of the Future!

This is how Yeah Write is going to grow, if everything works accordingly:

We raise enough money off of selling The Yeah Write Review to hire some serious web developers, who can build Yeah Write into a website like Figment or WattPad, but with even more features. We’ll probably have to raise capital some other ways too, maybe by fundraising or selling our souls or something.

We would also build relationships with literary magazines and publishers, who would trust that we have a good eye for up and coming writers.

The full-blown Yeah Write would also serve as a small press publisher, testing out new publishing models that would work well in the new digital/ebook era.

Best of all we’d have a staff of a few dozen people working in a beautiful, brightly lit loft office space in lower Manhattan. It would be full of lots of hardwood flooring and bookshelves and bulletin boards and Apple products.

Aaaaaah.

Did you know that all proceeds from magazine sales go toward turning Yeah Write into a fully interactive writing web platform? By buying a copy, you’re not only getting a beautifully unique and interactive literary magazine full of awesome stories, poems, nonfiction, and photos, but you’re contributing to what will hopefully one day be the most bomb ass writing website on the internet! (More on “The YW Dream of the Future” here.)

The magazine is available both as a digital download and a full color printed and bound copy that will be shipped to your house.

It's done. It's finally done. Issue 02 is in the can. I've been working on it for 12 straight hours today.

I’m so happy.

  • WHO’S EXCITED FOR TOMORROW?!
Submissions are closed and the numbers are in!

Fiction submissions: 212

Nonfiction submissions: 53

Poetry submissions: 512

That’s a total of 777 submissions, which has to mean we’re the luckiest magazine ever!!

To everyone who submitted, thank you so much! The staffers have told me that they really enjoyed reading everything. A higher volume of submissions means that we get to curate some really legit creative writing for the magazine, which, of course, is our goal!

Acceptance and decline emails should be out by the end of the weekend.

Also don’t forget that photography submissions are open next week!

The Yeah Write Review is our literary magazine.

But it’s not like other literary magazines!

You know those posts we do daily that contain writing advice? The Yeah Write Review has whole articles on writing topics by experienced writers, to help you think about the ways in which you can better your writing.

Have something to add to one of our articles? Have an anecdote to share? Think our advice is bullshit? At the end of every article, there’s a link to a discussion board, where you can add your Two Cents.

The review also contains poetry, nonfiction pieces, and short stories from some amazing writers, and some really beautiful photographs, too!
