DAY 5: JUST DO IT

My calves weren’t fully recovered for yesterdays leg workout so I was hesitant on going all out, but I did anyway. Surprisingly, I could walk this morning so it was probably good that I pumped all of that blood into my sore spots. 

We focused on upper body today:

15 x 3 Bench press 30lb dumbbells 
12 x 3 Diagonal flys 10lb dumbbells
12 x 3 Shoulder press 17.5 dumbbells
12 x 3 Bicep curls 17.5 dumbbells
12 x 3 Assisted pull up (descending weight 50 - 40 - 20)
40 straight push ups without stopping

After weight training I always do 15 minutes of interval training. Today was on the stairclimber, but I switch it up between that and the elliptical, spin bike, and treadmill. It helps move that lactic acid around so that I don’t end up incapacitated later on!

So what that it’s Saturday. Your body doesn’t know the difference between Monday or Wednesday, so don’t make excuses. Training like an athlete doesn’t mean you have to hit the gym hard everyday, it just means you are maintain a consistently active lifestyle, are mindful of your nutrition, and hold yourself accountable to every decision you make. The hardest part is convincing yourself to do it and stick with it. Do something everyday, because every small step will lead you closer to your achieving your goals.

Take it from Allyson Felix, four-time Olympic Gold American track and field sprint athlete. JUST DO IT.

You know the feeling when you wake up and you’re like WTF AM I DOING WITH MY LIFE? 

This happens to me almost everyday and I need to remind myself of the 1st commandment: CHILL

Here are a few ways of practicing the art of CHILLING THE F*CK OUT:

Take a few deep breaths
Walk around the block
Drink some water
Read a book
Cook a meal
Call a friend

A clear and present mind is necessary to achieving anything worthwhile in life. It takes attention, focus, and an effort that can only be derived through an unadulterated patience. Try practicing it.
