If you’re concerned about how “right” or “wrong” something is (e.g. our clothing choices, actions, feelings, thoughts, etc), search the scriptures for yourself (google it! : ] ) to see what GOD said about that particular area of life.
I can’t see what your other response was entirely but I know that the Bible says “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” (Romans 12:2), so I can understand wanting to stay separate from things that might pollute your mind and stuff, BUT I also think that if you live in a little Christian bubble of Christian friends and Christian music and Christian everything around you, you can’t be an effective witness because you don’t know how to live in the world.
I know her heart is in the right place and she wasn’t trying to be hurtful or talking about me in particular, I just don’t think she’s very good at understanding things sometimes. I just often disagree with her family’s ideas about how some things work, like, they don’t let one of their daughters (who is the same age as me) ever be alone with her boyfriend, even if they’re just driving somewhere to meet up with other people.
I’m not an immodest person, just by my nature. I’m not comfortable having people look at my bare skin, really, but I also think there are more important things than the way you dress or the music you listen to. If your heart is in the right place, who gives a hoot whether you’re dressed a certain way or listening to certain music?
I mean, God created mankind and gave us the intellect and ingenuity to create and do some really amazing things, but if we don’t pay attention to what’s happening in the world around us, we’ll miss it and all we’ll see are the bad things that come out of that world.
