'Fate/stay night Unlimited Blade Works' Anime Gets Overseas Distribution Set
While we usually see most of the distribution plans set for a show come from the distributors themselves or those that license it, we do get a few whose distribution deals are announced by the actual production committee itself through the show site. Such is the case for Fate/stay night Unlimited Blade Works
as the official site has revealed
that the series will see distribution in English speaking territories through several sources. For those audiences, it will be available through Crunchyroll and Hulu when it debuts. Elsewhere, French and German speaking territories will see the show through Wakanim and Peppermint.TV respectively while fans in Korea will see it on Aniplus.
It’s set to debut on October 4th, 2014 and will be done across two seasons with the second debuting in April 2015. This particular story arc was adapted into anime form before with the Unlimited Blade Works movie, which Sentai Filmworks has released here. That was a compressed view of it and there’ll be differences in how the TV show unfolds.
Based on the original story by Konoko Nasu and Type-Moon, the series is directed by Takahiro Miuria with character designs by Tomonori Sudo and hisayuki Tabata. The series stars Noriaki Sugiyama as Shirou Emiya, Ayako Kawasumi as Saber, Kana Ueda as Rin Tohsaka, Junichi Suwabe as Archer, Noriko Shitaya as Sakura Matou, Mai Kadowaki as Illyasviel von Einzbern, Nobutoshi Canna as Lancer, Miki Itou as Taiga Fujimura, Jouji Nakata as Kirei Kotomine and Rikiya Koyama as Kiritsugu Emiya.
Plot concept: Fuyuki City—a city surrounded by the ocean and the mountains becomes the setting for an age-old ritual. To realize the mythical Holy Grail, which is said to grant any wish from its possessor, seven masters are given seven heroic spirits chosen by the Grail. These heroic spirits or servants are:
Each master will enter into a contract with their assigned servants and battle the other masters and servants to the death until only one pair remains…
This is the “Holy Grail War.”
