Our friends at UniteWomen.org WA would like to invite you all to join them for an event. As you may know, John Boehner recently refused to let the House vote on the Senate version of the Violence Against Women Act. The Senate version includes protections for LGBTQ persons, undocumented immigrants, and Native Americans, whereas the House version puts those groups more in danger than ever before. In response, they have formed the Anti-Violence Bell Choir. They will be meeting on the steps of the Archdiocese in Seattle (710 9th Ave) tonight at 6:30, where they will take a moment to thank those that work to protect these groups, including local shelters and Catholic nuns. Then they will form a procession to individually lay at the church door a flower with a note card attached that tells your personal story of experience with violence or shares some facts about violence. Next they will break out their bells for a very short march. Bring a flower. Bring a bell. Bring your story. And you will find compassion. Hope to see you tonight, Wednesday the 20th, at 6:30 at the Archdiocese of Seattle!
