Kick off event in Winnipeg!

Sept 15’s reading with Casey Plett, Trish Salah, and Sybil Lamb in Winnipeg’s The Action House was a massive success. A great time was had by all!

Also, there was a cat! While we can’t strictly ask people to bring cats to our readings, let’s just say no cats will be turned away.

Two stars of the Stratford Festival, one past and one present, will headline the all-Canadian company of Once that Mirvish Productions will launch on Feb. 10, 2015 at the Ed Mirvish Theatre.

Ian Lake and Trish Lindström will play the roles of Guy and Girl in the Tony Award-winning musical based on the successful indie film of the same name, which won an Oscar for Best Original Song in 2008.

The touring company of Once sold out every seat during its six-week Toronto run beginning in November 2013, inspiring Mirvish Productions to mount its own production with a completely Canadian cast. …

The rest of the cast feature Stephanie Cadman as Ex-Girlfriend, Nathan Carrol as Andrej, Emily Lukasik as Reza, Jon-Alex MacFarlane as Bank Manager, Brandon McGibbon as Svec, Stephen Guy-Mcgrath as Billy, Laurie Murdoch as Da, Brendan Wall as Eamon, Jeremy Walmsley as Emcee, along with Ben Camenzuli, Gabi Epstein, Justin Raisbeck, Alicia Toner and Seana-Lee Wood.

When I say I want to read the book before seeing the movie, I don’t want brownie points or bragging rights. I want to be able to read the book with my imagined world and idea of the characters without the movie’s influence at least once. After you see the movie there’s always some part of it that sticks in your head for a long time and you lose the enjoyment of making it up yourself.

"Pro-wrestling is fake!"

Well, if you mean pro-wrestling is scripted, I don’t think any one can argue with you on that.

However, if you mean wrestlers don’t have athletic capabilities or the stunts they do aren’t dangerous-

Or that pro-wrestling being scripted makes it any less enjoyable to watch-

Let me tell you something, brother-

You couldn’t be more wrong.
