A few weeks ago I picked up one of my pieces I hadn’t seen since it was showing last year at Art Cube gallery in Laguna Beach. And, I never got the chance to take decent photos until now.
The piece “Save the Monsters from the Children” is an installation composed of chairs and other found objects as supports. It serves as a representation of my encounters with others, good and bad, and how those experiences forever become a part of me.
The chair specifically is a symbol of self respect, self worth, and self regard, and in this scenario is threatened and tested by others.
I approached this piece by drawing and painting on paper first, allowing fluidity in my process to arrange, and rearrange, the elements of the composition.
