Name: Hawksbill Turtle of the Mesoamerican Reef, Coastal East Africa, and the Coral Triangle.
Population: Unknown. The exact estimation of how many are left are unknown, but the population has decreased in the last decade by 80%.
Extinction Risk: Critically Endangered
Threat: Merchants. The animals are most threatened by illegal trade. They are hunted, killed, and their shells sold to make tortoiseshell jewelry.

I love turtles, and it saddens me that there are a number of turtles on the endangered species list.
