What's it like to be Syrian?

In the name of Allah the most gracious and most merciful.
Today the whole world is abuzz with the speech by president Obama who authorized airstrikes on IS targets in Syria and Iraq.
Sometimes I feel as if the reason for me being involved in the media business is so that Allah azzawajal wants me to see this whole drama, this feature film that we call reality for what it is. A well scripted and well produced Hollywood blockbuster. But with real ammunition, and real people dying.
And on top of all of this, my thoughts go out to Syrians; men, women, children, the elderly, the less fortunate. These people, who had no clue that the revolution would spiral into civil war, whose only desire is to lead lives like every normal human being on the planet, and who will now face grave repercussions from the US airstrikes.
What I believe we will see as a result from the direct involvement by the US in Syria, will affect the whole world.
Firstly, in conducting airstrikes on the impostor IS, the US will also eliminate or weaken the soldiers fighting for the people of Syria, the real mujahideen.
This will anger Muslims from around the world, those that support the impostor IS and also those that support the anti-Bashar regime. Secondly, at the same time the US will establish a foothold in Syria, under the pretext of peace-keeping efforts, much like the green zone in Iraq.
This will infuriate Bashar Al-Assad, and his allies in Iran and Russia, creating further tension. A massive problem will arise if Bashar and his allies reject this invasion by the US vehemently. If the “Eastern Bloc” takes an aggressive stance towards US actions, and countries will be forced to take sides (much like Malaysia through the MH17 tragedy), then I foresee the coming of the great malhamah. Na’udzu billah. But of course, this is only what I observe through my limited lenses. I sincerely hope and pray that the powers that be back down, and do not follow through their plans with actions. I pray to Allah that all of us would not have to face what Syrians have been facing for the past 3 years. May Allah shower his mercy on us all.
