Middle- The Lockheed P-38 Lightning. In this case, a blue, early F-5 photo recon Lightning (P- Pursuit, F- Foto. This would later change), sometime in 1943, before the red outline of the national Insignia was removed.
Bottom- Harley Earl, was design chief for Cadillac and a fan of the P-38. This style tail fin and the false air intake on the rear doors of Cadillacs starting in 1950 (seen here on my ‘50 Series 61), were patterned after the Lightning.
My first attempt at making a vintage shirt from a pattern. After $19 and about 8 hours of making mistakes and figuring out what the hell I was doing I came out with this mint green bad boy. Not bad, if I say so myself… and I do.
