I’m surprised this game hasn’t been discussed yet. Crypt of the Necrodancer came out of early access on Steam just a few days ago, and it’s excellent, both in terms of gameplay and an abundance of strong, practically dressed female characters. Here’s Cadence, the protagonist.
We have featured the game on our Steam Curator page, however this seems the perfect time to mention here as it’s on sale (25% off until April 30). In addition to being a really cool, novel take on the dungeon crawling it also features more diversity than most mainstream games (though the characters must be unlocked).
Overall I think Cadence is a really awesome example of a great female character put out by indie game developers and I really hope to see more like her!
Last Case, a gorgeous isometric narration based point and click made for the Adventure Jam, sees you playing a private investigator on the hunt for a missing girl.
Amanda Kane, a wealthy family’s daughter, has run away. Jack Forester, being a private eye who is always in need of some money, has taken the case! With little information to go on, Last Case is very narration driven, giving off small details about Jack and about the missing girl.
It is a fairly short experience, which we’d love to see expanded on – perhaps after the dev completes work on the (also excellent) Max Greene. But even during it’s brief playtime, Last Case will definitely keep you immersed with it’s beautifully crafted isometric visuals and great narration.
Nightwing, Robin, Catwoman, and Azrael Confirmed for Batman Arkham Knight
Developer Rocksteady hid codes for each character within the trailer, that when entered on the official Arkham Knight website, revealed each character and their biography.
RICHARD “DICK” GRAYSON
The original Boy Wonder, Richard “Dick” Grayson was the youngest in a family of circus acrobats known as the “Flying Graysons”. After the murder of his parents, the orphaned boy was adopted by Bruce Wayne, who channeled Grayson’s anger and acrobatic abilities into a life fighting crime as his first sidekick, Robin.
After many years by Batman’s side, Dick matured into an accomplished crime-fighter in his own right – and started to begrudge Bruce’s inability to treat him as an equal member of the partnership.
Determined to prove himself, and weary of living in Batman’s shadow, Grayson moved to the city of Blüdhaven to fight crime under a new name – Nightwing.
REAL NAME TIM DRAKE AKA ROBIN
Young Tim Drake was in the audience the night the Flying Graysons were murdered, where he witnessed Batman leap to the scene. Inspired by Batman’s heroics, Tim closely followed the chronicles of Batman and Robin.
Eventually deducing Batman’s secret identity using his self-taught detective skills, Tim convinced Bruce Wayne to let him fill the then-vacant role of Batman’s fellow crime-fighter.
Tested by the Dark Knight himself with a grueling training regimen, Tim earned the right to become Robin, and has since lived up to the name.
REAL NAME SELINA KYLE
An orphan who learned to survive on the mean streets of Gotham, Selina Kyle turned to thievery to survive. Determined to do it with style, she learned martial arts and trained in gymnastics to perfect her skills.
Her criminal activities are tempered by a reluctant altruism, making her an inconstant villain and occasional hero. She maintains a complicated, adversarial relationship with Batman that frequently turns flirtatious and occasionally romantic.
Little is known about her movements since the closure of Arkham City, but a string of high-profile burglaries suggests she is still at large in Gotham.
REAL NAME UNKNOWN
This mysterious figure watched Batman from the shadows during the events of Arkham City, eventually confronting him to impart a prophecy that Batman would save Gotham from a fiery doom.
Azrael has returned, with a new mission from his masters, fueled by the determination that only faith can bring.
