the unraveling

I like to imagine Hide could play a musical instrument (like guitar or something, since he liked music so much). He would write music and Kaneki would help with lyrics.
Unravel was something they wrote together when Kaneki had his eyepatch (before Aogiri but after Rize). He would tell Hide it was just something inspired by a book.

You took me faster than
the known world was conquered,
brutal, rough. Afterwards,
your lungs settled inside me as
I remembered how to breathe.

You cut through me to see
my flesh, my bones, my beaten
heart and all kinds of things
stuttering at the edge of
the unknown.
And me, collapsing in,

It looks a little like this.
You, searching for the thread,
pulling it loose with your
teeth, then turning
away as I begin to unravel.

You, defeating the
impossible knot.

You fucked and sought and wanted
for everything, but at the end
of it all, there was only
me.

Undoing, undoing, undone.

So i thought of a snowells fic idea last night; AU where barry doesn't stop caitlin from talking to wells in ep 19 "Who is Harrison Wells" and wells explains everything to her and they talk about their feelings!!

(I’ve been wanting to do this for so long oh gosh but well. 2.5k words of what COULD HAVE BEEN, sighs. It gets a lil bit NSFW towards the end, just a warning.)

Harrison knew the price of keeping secrets. He knew that it would lead to heartbreak, pain, suffering, and the inevitable betrayal once everything had been unraveled. However, he never could have foreseen the incredible amount of loyalty a certain young woman would come to show towards him over time. It was baffling and admirable and heartwarming all at once, so when she shows up at his front door one night, the chances of it being fate as opposed to anything else, is something that he desperately wants to believe.

He knows why she’s here, knows about all the questions that need to be answered and the trust that needs to be regained. He can’t give her both those things, just one of them at the expense of the other, and he thinks she knows which one she’s more interested in, anyway.

“Please,” he says as they enter the living room. “Have a seat, Caitlin.”

She’s still looking around the place, as if she’s carefully examining every slab of stone, every marble tile, every inch of every window. Harrison doesn’t push her, but she eventually realizes that he’s been watching her and carefully sits down on the sofa in front of him.

“I— I wanted to talk,” she says, voice faltering as she fails to maintain eye contact with him.

She ends up looking away at the fireplace, with an incredulous look on her face. Harrison gives her another moment to regain herself before anything else, as her legs were shaking and she was already starting to sweat on her neck.

“Caitlin, you should know that before you say anything else, I don’t want you to feel like you have to hold back on certain things. You know you can always come to me for anything at all, no matter how big or small the matter may seem. That’s the way it has been, that’s the way it always will be,” Harrison says, leaning forward slightly in his chair as he tries to catch her gaze when she turns back.

Once she does, her eyes see right through him. “You’ve been lying to us.”

There is this tenderness that my mouth cannot unlearn. Every word is a whisper, every word comes out sounding like “please.”

You are pouring yourself another drink and this time, I don’t mind. The whiskey on your tongue makes it easier to translate what my bones are trying to say. They’re saying “please” too.

Here is my body praying. Here is my body begging.

There is a ribbon of velvet tucked into my throat that unravels into my stomach when you say my name. I am soft. I am pliant.

We waste hours in the dead skin and sheets, we breathe the air like our love is laced in it. We breathe the air like we can taste it.

We play pretend. We tell lies.

The heater in the corner is broken which means we can’t stay in this room forever. Please buy a new one.

I have hardly seen the sun in 3 days and I do not miss it. Give me night, give me need. Give me everything you haven’t taken from me.

This our fall from grace, but I swear I see the silhouette of wings across your bare shoulders.

The last time this happened, I ate glass for a week and did not leave my bathtub. The last time this happened, the fallout was nuclear.

Most nights, I can hear people in the next room breathing. They’re always in sync and I wonder if we are too, when we sleep. You say, “Probably not.”

The last time this happened, all I could do was say your name for 47 hours.

There is this tenderness that my mouth cannot unlearn. I keep trying to tell you that I don’t want to do this again, do not want to rebuild the ruins again, but every word comes out sounding like “please.”

Sometimes I just listen to unravel and i'm like why is this song so godamn good you know what i mean and I recently heard and read the english version and holy the lyrics are amazing it's not only a metaphor for ghouls but also like depression and kaneki is both and the thing with not wanting to hurt someone close to you (in this case i take Hide as the close person not cuz of shipping reasons just he is his closest person until kaneki goes to anteiku) damn im crying

I know the pain…Now in japanese class I have to hear the verbs ‘oshiete’ and ’kaeru’ everyday without wiping the floor with my tears and my defeated self

im sorry i post so much depressing crap on here.. talking about how i feel is like when u have a thread coming off ur jumper so u pull it expecting it to snap off and be better but instead it just keeps unraveling and u keep pulling and soon ur jumper is ruined and everyone around you is annoyed and weirded out.

Talking Heads - Remain in Light and/or New Order - Brotherhood

Remain in Light is an amazing record - when I first heard it, age 18, it just sounded so much denser than anything else I was listening to, but also very oblique - not a density you could unravel or burrow into, more like fragments of perspectives and puzzles you weren’t necessarily meant to ‘work out’. I was listening to it at the same time I was reading DOOM PATROL, reading about the Situationists, it felt part of a universe of cool art I was excited to be unlocking. I’m not 18 any more, I’ve come to terms with the flaws and qualities of most of the stuff that excited me then, and I understand the roots of what Talking Heads were doing (a little) better. Remain In Light resists assimilation tho, mostly because it still sounds so itchy. I dunno, it’s not a perfect record, it’s on a road that ends up with horrors like U2′s “Discotheque”, I don’t play side two very often (it’s not worse, but side one has more momentum, and is funnier), but for what it meant to me and how much it doggedly still means it’s a 10.

The New Order one I have ACTUALLY REVIEWED for Pitchfork. They’re a singles band, though. Well, a 12″s band. That seemed like the orthodoxy back in my day and it still is in my little world, but that’s mostly because I get the actual albums confused. This is the one that has Bizarre Love Triangle on? But not the long, magnificent, BLT. And it’s got “you caught me at a bad time, so why don’t you fuck off?” Or is that Power, Corruption and Lies? Technique is my favourite NO album and I couldn’t match all the titles to tracks on that if there was a million pounds riding on it. This is a good record, like all their 80s records. I’m sorry I can’t be more specific. 7.

I just want you to kiss me the way you did. be playful. be shy. hold my hand. the way you unravelled. and then it was fire, passion, everything i needed. you couldn’t resist me. i couldn’t resist you. it didn’t matter. it was shy, and playful. but there was hidden fire, unspoken truths. and we both knew. you knew when i looked at you. i knew by the way you grabbed me. it wasn’t something that could be taken away. and oh god i miss you.
Home Sweet Home || Do Wes

The noise of the engine and the blast of the wind was all that hummed through Donna’s eardrums for miles. She fell in and out of consciousness, only stirring when they hit a bump in the road. Wes had left her speechless after their charade. It was unlike any man to not want something in return after the deeds he’d bestowed upon her, and although she found herself a little disgruntled about it, the blonde chose silence over argument. Wes was a troubled man, one that she had intentions to unravel, but to do so in one sitting was never as enticing as the slow peel of layers over time.

She blinked wearily, startled when the truck jerked to a halt. It was dusk, but already frigid; an unfamiliar setting coming into focus as she rubbed her eyes.

“Here already, cowboy?” She questioned, watching as Wes attempted to leave the cab as silently as he could. He was already gearing up, his massive hands filling out his work gloves until they practically split at the seams.

“Were you plannin’ on keeping me out here in this frigid weather all by my lonesome, or were you going to invite me to meet your relatives?”
She smiled wanly at him, her large blue eyes batting their lashes as they always did when Donna wanted to have her way. Truthfully, she would have stayed in that cab, perfectly content for a nap, but opportunity was knocking, and although she seemed the frail sort at times, Donna was desperate to prove her worth.

A-Z Book Tag!

l was tagged to answer all these lovely questions by the even lovelier roseybud21 (she’s great and you should totally go follow her)

Author you’ve read the most: Cassandra Clare! I absolutely love all her books!

Best sequel ever: Point of Retreat by Colleen Hoover is the first thing that came to mind. Slammed was great, and the sequel definitely exceeded my expectations and was full of the feels! Unravel Me is also a good one…sorry, couldn’t choose!

Currently reading: Ok so… I’m kind of reading 2 books right now: Just Listen by Sarah Dessen, and All the Rage by Courtney Summers

Drink of choice while reading: I always love a cup of tea!

E-reader or physical book? I used to always use a kindle until this year, and now I prefer physical… it makes for prettier bookshelves too!

Fictional character you probably would have actually dated in HS: Probably David Stark from Rebel Belle, he’s a huge geek like me! And even though this is ideal, maybe the amazing Will Herondale… we could fangirl about books together!

Glad you gave this book a chance: For some odd reason I was really reluctant to read Shatter Me, but I’m super happy I did.

Hidden gem book: umm… I don’t see many people reading Elantris by Brandon Sanderson, but I loved it!

Important moment in your reading life: Probably starting Percy Jackson in the 2nd grade. That and Harry Potter which I started in 3rd grade were what really sealed the deal in my love for reading. And I’m still obsessed with PJO almost 10 years later!

Just finished: A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas! It was amazing and the characters were super great! I love all of S. J. Maas books. I can’t wait for the rest of the series.

Kind of books you won’t read: Um… there isn’t any particular kind I won’t read at all, I’m normally always game for anything if it sounds good. I don’t read much non-fiction though, but I’ve read a few I’ve liked. I guess it’s hard to generalize

Longest book you’ve read: I’m not sure, but it’s definitely something by Bradnon Sanderson.

Major book hangover because of: Clockwork Princess by Cassie Clare. I finished this one the day before Christmas and I remember not even knowing what to do with myself despite all the festivities going down! But yeah, I could not stop thinking about TID for such a long time.

Number of bookcases you own: 2, but I need another

One book you’ve read multiple times: Anna and the French Kiss and everything else Stephanie Perkins. I really liked these books the first time… but it was the second time that really got to me.

Preferred place to read: In my bed!

Quote that inspires you / gives you all the feels from a book you’ve read:  “Crying does not indicate that you are weak. Since birth, it has always been a sign that you are alive.” from Jane Eyre. It just really struck me, but there are tons of quotes I love

Reading regret: I don’t really have one.

Series you started and need to finish: Chaos Walking by Patrick Ness. Guys, I started this 3 years ago! The first book was amazing but the second took some time to get into. I have a friend that’s been nagging me to finish so I think I’ll reread the first two this summer and then read the third.

Three of your All-Time favourite books: Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare, Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas, I’ll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson

Unapologetic fangirl for: Anything regarding Cassandra Clare’s amazing Shadowhunters! Also the Lunar Chronicles…I’m obsessed with its dream team of a cast

Very excited for this release more than all the others: This is hard… so I’ll pick two: Queen of Shadows, and Winter… ugh I’m soooo pumped for both of them man!

Worst bookish habit: Not putting my books on their shelves…or back in their jackets. I have random books and jackets strewn all over my room!

X- marks the spot: start at the top left of your shelf and pick the 27th book: Unravel Me by Tahereh Mafi

Your latest book purchase: All the Rage by Courtney Summers

ZzZ-snatcher book: last book that kept you up WAY late: Daughter of Smoke and Bone kept me up really late a few weeks ago.

Yay I’m done! Let’s see, who do I want to answer these fun questions now? I tag: lady-siff, yabookaddict, tear-stainedpages, your-adorkable-book-nerd, lady-quotes-a-lot, livvy-kirkland, theintrovertedartist
