My assignment for Illustration History is to recreate any object in three different styles of illustration throughout history. I depicted the cover of Singin’ in the rain in the three biggest sequential art styles of the time and used some of their most renowned artists as reference.
From left to right: Fred Ray (North-American), Hergé (European) and Osamu Tezuka (Asian).
Tezuka was definitely the biggest challenge. I used his more ‘mature’ style for reference but I’m still not happy with how it turned out. :[ Ah, well.
(If someone could confirm for me whether the Japanese translation is correct — I copied it from the Wikipedia article — I would appreciate it so much!)
