I have a new favorite Ethiopian restaurant! It’s called Tegeste and is in Columbia Heights. I don’t think I could possibly give any restaurant a better recommendation than this: it is a (very clean) hole in the wall where you feel like someone’s grandma (in this case perhaps literally) is cooking for you. (Also it’s incredibly affordable.) Camille and I went on her last night in DC, which was awesome, because she is one of the only people I know who is as passionate as I am about eating raw meat.

We drank honey wine, ate a veggie combo platter, and devoured what looked like a pound of raw, spiced beef. Apparently this was surprising behavior coming from two white girls, because at the end of the meal the chef came out to ask us “You like raw meat?!” Which, yes. As if that weren’t clear.
