tag-clouds

Once upon a time whoisliina tagged me in a thing. I can’t find the thing. It was something about posting a picture of yourself and maybe it was supposed to be a selfie, but I have the policy of when I take a good picture, I post it everywhere, so consider this my submission. :)

And it was supposed to tag 11 (?) more people, but I will only add xoxomerilyn because pretty girls need to post more pictures on the interwebs. :)

Tag clouds for the most frequently used words in Richard II, act 1. The first four images show the clouds for scenes 1 to 4, the last one shows the whole act 1. I used this as text reference, counted only pure dialogue (no stage directions, or character names), and omitted common words (like ‘and’, 'but’, 'for’, 'you’, 'thou’, 'thee'  etc.).

So far it looks like it’s all god and blood, life and death, king and cousins. So, well. No surprises so far?

Tag clouds for the most frequently used words in Richard II, act 2. The first four images show the clouds for scenes 1 to 4, the last one shows the whole act 2. I used this as text reference, counted only pure dialogue (no stage directions, or character names), and omitted common words (like ‘and’, ‘but’, ‘for’, ‘you’, ‘thou’, ‘thee’  etc.).

King has replaced God as the top word in the second act, and, as far as I can tell, will keep this position throughout the rest of the play. The Richard/Gaunt meeting in scene one is all about Hereford and Gaunt, son and land and England and shame. The words for Scene 2 with the Queen and the Favourites are God and nothing, hope, and grief, and sorrow, and woe. The third scene, with Bolingbroke’s return to England is the only one that hardly mentions the king, instead the top words are noble and lord, father and uncle, and arms. And finally, in the last scene of the second act, the Welsh captain and Salisbury talk about Richard and death, signs and earth and countrymen, fear and fled and death.
