Okay, I’m not the best swimmer out there. I don’t wear $300 fast skins at every meet. I don’t qualify for state every year. But you know what, I’m okay with that because when I do make it to state, it will mean so much more to me because I’ve worked for it my whole swimming career. Don’t get me wrong though, I’m thrilled with everyone who is better than me, who made it to state, who made it to nationals; It’s amazing that you are that good. I’m proud to be a swimmer who doesn’t always get first, who isn’t the fastest; it’s what makes me, me. For all of you qualifying for state, nationals, whatever, CONGRATS!! That’s amazing. I just wanted to tell all of you that aren’t necessarily the best (like me) it doesn’t matter how fast you are, what you qualify for, or who you beat, what matters is that you prove to yourself that you’re the best in your own eyes, not someone else’s.
