BYRON I WANT TO START READING AVENGERS ACADEMY! but where?

START AT ISSUE ONE

there are only 38 issues of the series EVER so

just start at issue one

and keep reading :)

In terms of collections, the first one is called Permanent Record, then Will We Use This In the Real World?, (then there’s a special but whatever, it’s basically Avengers Arena in one issue *grumble grumble*) followed by Fear Itself: Avengers Academy, then comes vol 3 which is called Second Semester, and then the last volume, Final Exams is out in January, according to Wikipedia. There’s only one issue left, and it’ll come out in the next few weeks. Then the series ends and Byron cries.

I hope I get this question much more frequently in the future. This series is seriously awesome. They met the Runaways one time! It’s got the awesome characterizations of Marvel teen series, but it’s darker. Not in a grimdark way, but these kids are dangerously close to becoming villains and are always fighting that knowledge, which gives them a different spin than say Young Avengers or New Mutants or something.

so yeah. great series. great choice.

sorry, this is not related to the ask request you just reblogged. but QUICK! favourite female marvel superheroes please!

OKAY

well Kate and Cassie, and all of the ladies from Avengers Academy - Veil, Hazmat, and Finesse - Wanda, Emma Frost, Kitty Pryde, Carol Danvers

and reading X-Factor I’ve grown really attached to Rahne Sinclair (I also loved Layla Miller when she was a kid)

I like what little I’ve seen of Jan Van Dyne and Tigra

Despite super icky backstory, I’d love to read about Jessica Jones going forward, I think she’s great

and I really dug Maria Hill and Pepper Potts (Rescue!) during Fraction’s early Iron Man stuff

so there, that’s my list. :)

EDIT: OMG and Abigail Brand, she’s flawless

What is your favorite comic book issue EVER. EVVVERRRRR.

I’VE BEEN ASKED THIS BEFORE AND I STILL DON’T KNOW

I read everything in trades, so I can’t separate the stories into individual issues very well

I

I dunno

I like issue 12 of JMS’ Thor run

that’s the only specific issue I can ever cite because otherwise I just like plotlines

I’M SORRY THIS ANSWER ISN’T MORE INTELLIGENT

random question but: what are your favourite poems of all time?

Keats. Keats is my favourite. I also like Poe, and I want to read more Yeats. I’ve really enjoyed what Yeats I have read, but there isn’t much. I also really enjoy the Romantics in general, so I’d pick up PB Shelley or Byron or Coleridge too (less so Wordsworth and Blake, tbh). Um. I’m looking forward to reading Emily Dickinson in a class this year, haven’t encountered her much but I feel like I’ll like her too. Oh and Shakespeare’s sonnets are pretty fucking hard to argue with. They’re cliches for a reason.

That’s all I can think of. I’m generally more of a prose kinda gal, but every now and then I like to pick up some poetry. Usually it’s Keats :’)

EDIT: You said “poems” not “poets” but I don’t have time to fix this. I apologize. I had just woken up.

Um, Ode on a Grecian Urn, The Raven, The Highway Man, Ode to a Nightingale, The Second Coming, Darkness (by Byron), Rime of the Ancient Mariner, We Are Seven (I really like the Romantics you guise), um… probs some other ones that’s all I can think of at this precise second.
