Today, something came in the mail that honestly can’t believe was sent to me.  A group calling themselves We The People of the State (website is here) is sending out flyers to “Say No to Anti Discrimination Laws” because they believe it furthers the “homosexual movement”.

For those of you that don’t know, Utah has been trying to pass Anti Discrimination Laws to prevent LGBT people from being fired or evicted for simply being who they are.

This groups is sending out hate mail. From their flyer:

"If we don’t stop these bad pieces of legislation, we will be helping the homosexual movement in bullying our children and young adults, giving them the open door they need to solicit and stimulate their minds and telling them that maybe they are gay; using these victims to increase their ranks in the national shift of morality they seek."

This is hate speech. This is wrong. I do not want this sent to my house.

They’re asking Utahans to call their representatives. If you live in Utah, please visit Equality Utah  and find out how to contact your representative and get anti discrimination laws SB 100 and SB 99 passed.

If you don’t live in Utah, I’m asking you to call the people that sent this hate mail.  Let them know what you think. Call them at 1-801-736-2191 or mail them at 4001 South 700 East Ste 500, SLC UT 84107.  Flood their mailbox. Let them know that this kind of speech is not okay.

  • Drivers who don’t use their turn signals, make no effort to signal in any way whatsoever that they are turning, then they turn into on-coming traffic nonetheless.
  • People who cut in line at the market. Not cool.
  • Unwanted solicitations of any kind, especially door-to-door religion salespeople.
  • People who moan way too loudly at yoga and have no sense of courtesy space.
  • Websites that require using Internet Explorer. It’s not 2003 anymore, yo.
  • Explaining to (mostly) old people (and some young people, too) how the Interwebs works.
  • Common core curriculum.
  • My dogs. They are both driving me crazy today.
'But then on the X-Men side, we've got Phoenix,' said Guggenheim. 'We've got Wolverine from circa Giant-Size X-Men #1 because in this version of reality, Hank McCoy brought old X-Men from the past into the present, but he chose the ones from Giant-Size X-Men #1 instead of the X-Men from the 1960s.' You can read the solicitation text for the debut issue and see more concept art below.

As a devouted christian can you explain me Faith healing? I just do not understand people who do that!

Well, Faith Healing refers to notably overt and ritualistic practices of communal prayer and gestures (such as laying on of hands) that are claimed to solicit divine intervention in initiating spiritual and literal healing. After all, God is omnipotent, and surely his faithful would receive special treatment when asked?

I don’t believe this because I don’t like the implications of the idea. It basically means that God’s power can be summoned at your whim for every hardship that you face. Doesn’t that make God less than you if you control Him and not the other way around?

I do believe that God does keep tally of brownie points and rewards faithfulness periodically, just as He gives us trials to test our character and faith. We are encouraged to cast our cares on the Lord, but it is ultimately God’s decision to reward, test, punish, or intervene, and not ours.

The Bronx was once a haven; a suburbia away from the metropolis of Manhattan, boasting the most beautiful buildings of the highest aesthetic and the latest innovations; marble lobbies and Art Deco decor were intended only for the quality middle class that could afford it.

Almost a century later, most of the buildings have fallen subject to decay and quality of life crimes such as graffiti, vandalism, and solicitation as they’ve gone unmaintained or repaired. A shadow of what they once were, the population for whom they were originally designed have fled, leaving the poorer populations to call it home.

Call for Microaggressions Post-its! (For Zine-Making)

LIS Microaggressions is soliciting Post-it submissions to be collected and included in our first ever LIS Microaggressions zine, which will be distributed at the upcoming ARLIS, ACRL, and REFORMA conferences (March-April 2015). This zine will also be available for download on our site!

Definition: Microaggressions are brief and commonplace daily verbal, behavioral, or environmental indignities, whether intentional or unintentional, that communicate hostile, derogatory, or negative racial slights and insults toward individuals from marginalized communities. Microaggressions can be difficult to identify because they are more nuanced, subtle forms of prejudice. They may arise from the language we use with our peers, the assumptions we make of others, or perceived compliments.

Submissions: Snail mail your Post-it submission to the address below postmarked by Friday, March 13th. Please write down or draw out your microaggression on a Post-it (or plain paper) no larger than 3x3. Submissions can be anonymous, or feel free to include your name/pseudonym/handle/etc. The zine will be constructed by LIS Microaggressions editors, kinda like our ALA 2014 poster but in zine form!

ants-on-the-hill asked:

I have yet to get my full interests in fighters and monks(even tho I know how good they could be) Mostly playing bards and sorcerers. I want to make a character close to those in the movie 'the raid' and 'the raid 2' Help please:)

I’ve heard good things, but haven’t gotten around to seeing The Raid quite yet. So I can’t be much specific help here. But, fortunately, I’m far from your only or best option!

So right HERE is the link to the Pathfinder General Discussion Thread on

My suggestion would be to start a new thread titled: “The Raid: Help Make My Ubersoldier!” or something.Drop a first post detailing what you’re trying to accomplish and solicit the community’s advice.

Then don’t look at it for a half hour or an hour. Maybe spend that time looking around on the boards, posting on other interesting threads, throwing around your own two cents, etc. It’s a fun community, make some friends. :)

Then come back and answer the three very basic questions you got in that time.

Then don’t look at it for 4 to 24 hours. (Maybe do some more lookin’ around.)

Chances are, you’ll have a ton of neat ideas waiting for you when you do come back and can engage the best posters in some fun conversations or drill down on some of the cooler idea.

The Paizo community is really quite open and pretty positive. I’ve never seen anyone get pinged for being a first time poster or having a “stupid questions,” that’s just not the sort of show we run over there.

So while I’m probably not a great help here, I’d bet you the thousands of superfans over there will be invaluable. I’d also be willing to bet you have the perfect answer to someone else’s question or the next great idea for someone you’ve never met’s campaign. You should let them know. :)

Hope that helps!
