The bullet bill sihed and shrugged his shoulder. “I don’t know.” He admitted. “When I found you, you’ere in the middle of the desert with nothin’ ‘round you ‘cept buzzards. ” He grimaced and scratched the back of his head.
He had not really thought about that. And, to be honest, he hoped there was not anyone searching for her. He had no idea what she was before she came here and what the search party might bring. He could not risk Dawn being attacked. Everyone here knew how to fight (even the children to some extent) but the fight may cause a bigger conflict than his people are prepared to survive.
"Just… Don’t get your hopes up, darlin’." He reached to pat her head gently. His hand came down to delicately cup the back of her head. "Either way, Dawn’s your home now. I want you to stay here, but I can’t make you."
