#tbt: Hoppípolla — Sigur Rós

Perhaps Sigur Rós’ most commercially successful song, “Hoppípolla” (Icelandic “hopping into puddles”), is an ethereal and happy-feelings song. It was released back in 2005 on their album Takk (Icelandic “thanks”). Its slow, melancholic but soothing sounds flow smoothly, caressing your ears and telling you it’ll all be okay. Like most of Sigur Rós’ songs, this one will pluck your heartstrings and have you mesmerized.

Over the previous months I have been slowly adding to a list that, for lack of a better term, I have dubbed my ‘Bucket List’. But isn’t just a simple list of destinations I want to travel to, it is a list of accomplishments and goals that I wish to achieve at some point in my life. I am going to share my list with you now in the hopes that you will go to my submission page and share yours with me as well.

My Bucket List:

  • Explore every part of Iceland
  • Climb to Machu Picchu
  • Spend time on every continent
  • Live in a foreign country for more than 1 year
  • Bike the entire length of the Trans-Canada Highway from coast to coast
  • Through-Hike the Pacific Crest Trail, but from Mexico to Yukon
  • Hike a mountain peak that is over 5000 metres
  • Participate in a marathon
  • See Bon Iver live
  • See Sigur Ros live (in Iceland)
  • Purchase some farm land and build a cabin on it
  • Get a dog and name him Fred
  • Have a story of mine get published
  • Have a photograph of mine get published
  • Create a successful travel company
  • Get a Master’s Degree
