These (former) black heels were my first pair of heels I bought for my first job almost 2 years ago. As you can see…. (zoom in on the heel)… I wore these babies out! Since I bought them in Berlin and they were my first “serious” heels I just can’t get myself to throw them away. Time for a new color coat… a GLITTER coat!!

This is my first glitter shoe DIY. As you can see, it’s not totally finished yet but we’re getting there. Will post the end result asap!

Like Jill Scott says: "Live your life like it’s golden!"

How to be different when you can’t or simply don’t want to spend your dinero on (exclusive) expensive stuff? D.I.Y. : Do It Yourself!!

I recently popped my DIY cherry with a dress, a vintage jeans jacket and some rope…

This was an old plain black dress. Inspired by outsapop I added a diagonal (jacket) zipper on the back of the dress to give it an extra edge. You can make the peep hole as big or as small as you like, depending on the occasion I guess. Time spent: max. 60 minutes!

Inspired by Dries van Noten and fashion blogger A Pair and a Spare, I decided to diy dye a jacket I found in my mom’s closet. Out of the three DIY’s this one was by far the easiest.

These multi purpose earthy, african-ish accessories are fun, cheap and very easy to diy. I haven’t gotten the complete hang of it yet, but still thought I should share!

Dia di bandera

Today, July 2nd, is Day of the Flag in Curacao (where I was raised and currently live). This year Curacao is celebrating its first Flag day as an independent country! blue and yellow everywhere! Felis dia di Bandera!

An international reader asked me a while ago to incorporate more of the island into my posts. So, I went to the city centre to capture the feel of Curacao…

Those we know me well, know that I’m intrigued by the Maasai tribe. It made my day to read that Louis Vuitton’s Spring/Summer 2012 collection is Maasai inspired!

I hope we can expect the mainstream clothing brands to follow! For what it’s worth: I already have my authentic Maasai blanket in place. POWWW!

The host of travel show Boarding Pass asked me to be her stylist for the show. Even though it’s still more of a wardrobe styling project (I style her with whatever she has in her closet), it’s loads of fun! This time aroung Boarding Pass is visiting the United States of America. So I thought I’d make her typical American shorts: 4th of July shorts!!

All you need are:

- old jeans

- blue and red textile paint (white paint is optional)

- adhesive tape

VOILA!

Added on 07/08:

A picture of Aisha, the host of travel show BoardingPass, wearing the 4th of July shorts during the recordings.

Today a group of 7 ladies and myself started the Six items or less challenge (SIOL)… Caribbean edition!

The challenge is simple: For the next 14 days our wardrobe will consist of 6 clothing items! Excluding coats, jackets, pyjamas, shoes and accessories.

My personal goal is to diet my own wardrobe, but also to make a statement and show that fashion is not about the amount of clothing items you own. Here in Curacao it’s quite normal for people to buy clothes on credit… Fashion is about so much more!

We’re gonna track our experiences and our outfits. So stay tuned for more!

SIOL… It’s a movement!!

World... meet Curacao

I’ve been asked by a few international readers (*overwhelming fact btw*) to incorporate more of the island into my posts… I’m def. working on it!

In the mean time: enjoy some beautiful Curacao pix taken by Richard and Lucien and enjoy some random info!

You know you’ve lived in Curacao if…:

  • you look up when you hear ‘pssssssst..!’
  • you can call anyone dushi (translation: ‘sweety’)
  •  when you see signs that say Sushi (translation: garbage) and it’s not the kind you eat.
  • you know the souvenirs are actually made in Haiti
